Four months ago, I was glad to attend my first La Roche-Posay event to preview their latest sunscreen that has a double anti-shine action with ultra-dry finish.
My bad for taking so long to blog about it! <grinning>
It was a cozy and very informative event and I have learned a lot about sun damages and protection from Dr Jean Ho. Dr Jean Ho is the Consultant Dermatologist at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre and Mount Elizabeth Novena Specialist Centre. She’s also the Visiting Specialist to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. This private event was held at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital.
Do you know what’s the differences between UVA and UVB? Well, UVA rays can age our skin and UVB can burn our skin. Our skin is exposed roughly 20 times more to UVA rays (95%) than UVB rays (5%)! And UVB penetrates into epidermis layer however UVA penetrates deeply into dermis layer hence damaging our collagen, elastin fibres and even DNA, causing premature aging like sun spots, wrinkles, photo-aging, dull-looking skin, uneven skin tone, enlarged pores and even skin cancer.
Do you know UVA rays are present all year long even on a cloudy day? In addition, UVA rays cannot be filtered by clouds or windows.
La Roche-Posay, famous for their Anthelios sunscreens, has recently introduced a new addition to the Anthelios sunscreen line – DRY TOUCH GEL-CREAM SPF50+.
Containing the highest protection at SPF 50+, DRY TOUCH GEL-CREAM SPF50+ is formulated to instantly absorb by skin, leaving no shine or white residue with an ultra-dry finish. It is empowered by the “toque seco” [dry touch] innovation, emblematic of Brazilian suncare products.
It gives a comfortable soft velvety texture which is non-oily, non-sticky and ultra-matte that is imperceptible on skin.
I actually apply a thick layer of sunscreen on my left hand and to my surprise and it completely absorbs by skin after a minute or two, leaving no white cast at all. My hand appears matte and non-greasy with a tinge of luminous finish. I really love the texture very much! It is water-resistant too!
I believe this is definitely an ideal texture for combination to oily skin and even sensitive or sun allergy-prone skin too.
“DRY TOUCH” Technology
- An innovative sugar-derived polymer ensures the formula’s imperceptible finish.
- An ingenious blend of anti-shine powders guarantees an ultra-dry finish. Perlite offers a blotting effect, silica neutralizes sebum and corn starch for a soft feel.
- An efficacy-boosting polymer with anti-slip properties to slow the texture’s glide on skin, for an instant absorption sensation.
- Zinc Gluconate, the reference anti-sebum active ingredient in dermatology.
DRY TOUCH GEL-CREAM SPF50+ is empowered with the patented Mexoplex® filtering system, which guarantees very high UVA-UVB protection and offers optimal tolerance for sensitive or sun allergy-prone skin.
PPD calculation – UVA protection factor UVA
PPD = Persistent Pigmentation Darkening
SPF 50+ (Sun Protection Factor) confers very high protection against sunburn, caused primarily by UVB rays. UVA protection is reinforced with PPD 31, to combat UVA rays, the main cause of sun intolerance and premature aging. Optimal SPF 50+ protection reinforced against UVA rays (stricter than the European recommendation) thanks to patented filtering system Mexoplex® combined with La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water, soothing and antioxidant.
DRY TOUCH GEL-CREAM SPF50+ is fragrance-free, paraben-free and non-comedogenic.
Upon the event, I was glad to receive a full size Anthelios XL DRY TOUCH GEL-CREAM SPF50+, Thermal Spring Water and Uvidea XL BB UVA Ultra PPD18 Daily Protection PA+++.
DRY TOUCH GEL-CREAM SPF50+, priced at S$49.90, is now available at Guardian stores.
