La Prairie The Advanced Marine Biology Collection


This simple long-overdue post was actually done end of last year, but I decided to publish it only today. No review was given on the products, just sharing the product information that were extracted from the press kit.

In late last year October 2012, La Prairie has launched The Advanced Marine Biology Collection that comprises of 5 products – Advanced Marine Biology Day Cream SPF 20, Tonic, Revitalizing Emulsion, eye gel and Foaming Mousse Cleanser.

Formulated with a powerful antioxidant properties of Algae, combined with intense structural hydration to effectively stave off the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines and preserve the skin’s youthful appearance. The collection is also enriched with its potent formula, La Prairie’s exclusive Cellular Complex, that boosts the skin’s natural renewal process and encourages its optimal functioning.

The collection is a positive example of “eco-luxury” in which the scientifically controlled cultivation of algae, kelp and other plants native to the sea in a protected, land-based environment.

Advanced Marine Biology Day Cream SPF 20 – S$214 / 50ml

Product Claim : Lightweight, instantly absorbed Advanced Marine Biology Day Cream SPF 20 hydrates the skin and helps stimulate its renewal system, while protecting it against the aging effects of free radicals and UVA and UVB rays. In addition, a unique aquaculture complex stimulates collagen production to improve firmness and elasticity; essential elements in preserving the skin’s youthful texture and appearance.

The texture, with non fragrance scent, is pretty lightweight that takes a while to fully absorb into the skin. It leaves a superficial greasy feeling on the skin.


Advanced Marine Biology Tonic – S$160 / 150ml

Product Claim : Advanced Marine Biology Tonic is a three-phase conditioning treatment lotion that combines, at the critical moment of application, active ingredients that are incompatible in traditional formulations. This proprietary delivery system provides an infusion of oxygen that stimulates circulation in the skin tissue and improves cellular energy. The net effect is to improve the skin’s elasticity and produce a brighter, more even tone.


Advanced Marine Biology Revitalizing Emulsion – S$214 / 50ml

Product Claim : A new generation, triple-tasking moisturizer for the face, neck and eye zone. It’s designed for the fast-paced lifestyle of results-oriented women and men who are intent on streamlining their daily maintenance routines without sacrificing their high standards of performance.

It has this silicone, silky gel-like texture that absorbs into the skin pretty fast. It leaves no greasy feeling but rather matte finish on my skin.


Advanced Marine Biology Eye Gel – S$102 / 125ml

Product Claim : This cooling smoothing gel blends both land- and sea-sourced substances to accomplish its mission to minimize the appearance of wrinkles and dark circles and the accompanying feeling of puffiness.

This lightweight gel texture leaves a mild cooling sensation on the skin upon application. It leaves no greasy feeling on the skin and it doesn’t have any fragrance scent too.


Advanced Marine Biology Foaming Mousse Cleanser – S$102

Product Claim : Advanced Marine Biology Foaming Mousse Cleanser addresses that vital first step in achieving beautiful, ageless skin. This gentle, high-lathering cleanser contains a natural, coconut-derived cleansing agent that removes all traces of makeup, impurities and pollutants from the skin.

It has this creamy texture that feels soft on the skin.

    How did you like this range of products? I’ve always been curious about La Prairie… but never enough to take the plunge. Somehow their packaging and branding just doesn’t appeal… love to hear your thoughts!
