REN Clean Skincare (Brand That Says NO To ‘Unfriendly’ Ingredients) Is Finally In Town!

If you are a skincare junkie and prefer skincare products that contain NO parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, petrolatum, synthetic fragrance, synthetic colors, TEA/DEA and silicones, you may probably aware of this brand named REN Clean Skincare.

A few Saturdays ago, I was glad to have my first preview on REN Clean Skincare range at Escentials Paragon with Rui Branco, REN’s international Director of Education and Training, to unveil the REN universe and the secret to radiant skin.

Rui demonstrated the correct application and regimen while introducing the range of REN products.

REN Clean Skincare Profile

REN Clean Skincare, with REN actually means ‘clean’ in Swedish, was created in September 2000 by Robert and Antony. It is the first-ever truly desirable skincare range that are FREE from synthetic fragrance and colors, petrochemicals, propylene glycol, animal ingredients, GM ingredients, PEGS, TEA/DEA, sulfates and parabens.

Robert and Antony, the founders of REN Clean Skincare whose ultimate aim is to create advanced, effective products that are 100% plant and mineral-derived, soon realized from the start on why no one else was developing clean skincare products as these products actually are incredibly difficult to make. However, helped by unfailing enthusiasm and the expertise of a brilliant French cosmetic pharmacologist Dr Colette Haydon, REN began to take shape. With 2 London shops, core-brand status in Space NK and a presence in big-name department stores in the UK and abroad, REN is already a great success.

Say NO to unfriendly ingredients!

REN Clean Skincare is formulated with NO skin-unfriendly ingredients such as : synthetic fragrance, petrochemicals, sulfate detergents, synthetic colors, animals ingredients, silicone and parabens.

In addition, REN products do not contain potential irritants including glycols and diglycols (such as propylene glycol), PEG’s, PPGs, urea, D.E.A, T.E.A, PABA and other synthetic sunscreens aliphatic alcohols/hydrocarons, phthalates, fumarates, amines, alkanolamines, synthetic AHA/BHAs, poyacrylamide, metacrylate, elastomer, poloxamer, styrene, vinyl, polyquaternium, synthetic chelating agents, nylon, nitriles, nitrates, nitrosamine releasers, bromates, fluor, aluminum and alumina.

Below are some of the products I’ve previewed during the event.

REN No.1 Purity Cleansing Balm is a unique cleansing makeup cleansing product that helps remove all trace of makeup and dirt from the skin.

It has a unique texture that turns from a waxy balm to a silky smooth gel texture when I gently rub it with my fingers.

This cleansing balm that is packed in a tub, retailing at S$85 for 150ml, will be discontinued soon and while stocks last. So if you are keen on it, you may wanna check it out at one of the Escentials outlets (listed at the bottom of this post). Hope Luxasia Singapore that carries this brand will be able to bring in the new tube version soon.

REN Hydra-Calm Cleansing Gel, retailing at S$50 for 150ml, is used right after the REN No.1 Purity Cleansing Balm. It helps to double cleanse away the remaining residue and impurities for a thoroughly cleansed, refreshed skin. This gentle facial wash is claimed to be suitable for sensitive skin without irritation, tightness or discomfort.

REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask and REN F10 Smooth & Renew Mask are both formulated to exfoliate the skin for a radiant and smoother complexion.

REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask (on the left), retailing at S$85 for 50ml, has a concentrate formulation with a complex of Glycolic, Lactic, Tartaric and Citric acids that resurface the skin and improve skin-cell turnover leaving skin looking brighter, smoother and more healthy.

For those with sensitive skin, REN F10 Smooth & Renew Mask (on the right), retailing at S$56 for 50ml, will be recommended. It is formulated to gently exfoliate and detoxify the skin leaving the complexion visibly radiant, smooth and toned.

I actually like its packaging that comes with a cover for the pump.

REN Radiance Perfection Serum, retailing at S$81 for 30ml, is a multi active serum that is formulated to reboot the skin’s energy cycle, visibly perfect skin tone and leave skin looking energised, radiant and luminous. It has a light texture that absorbs pretty easily onto the skin.

REN Omega 3 Night Repair Serum, retailing at S$97 for 50ml, is a night serum that replenishes skin lipids to leave complexion looking smooth, even toned and glowingly healthy. It is a super light gel-like texture and it is suitable for all skin types.

REN Active 7 Radiant Eye Gel, retailing at S$54 for 15ml, is a light and cooling gel to treat, revive and brighten the delicate eye area.

REN Lipovector Smoothing Eye Contour Cream, retailing at S$76 for 15ml, has a light creamy texture that doesn’t leave a greasy feeling after application.

I have learned from Rui (REN’s International Trainer) that any eye products that is gel-like texture is suitable to be used around inner corner of eye socket area (above image) whilst the cream type is only suitable to be used at the outer corner of the eye socket (below image).

REN Photoactive Sun Veil SPF15 is a triple action micro-mineral sunscreen that delivers broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection, fights free radicals and harnesses beneficial light energy for a laser effect that gives the complexion a radiant, even toned appearance.

It uses sub-micronised Zinc Oxide to protect the skin against harmful UVA and UVB radiation but is free of chemical sunscreen and nano particles. It is easily absorbed and doesn’t leave a whitening residue on the skin. Formulated with anti-aging properties too and it will be available from August 2012, retailing at only S$79 for a 50ml bottle.

I’ve received a complimentary bottle of this sunscreen upon the event. :-)

REN Clean Skincare is available at Escentials at Paragon, Escentials at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands and Escentials at Tangs Orchard.

Are all ingredients gluten free – I have tried many wonderful products that by the third make me sick as I have celiac disease, meaning I’m allergic to gluten.

Got something to say? Go for it!
