Kiehl’s Introducing The New Midnight Recovery Eye

A few weeks ago, I was delighted to receive a surprise gift bag from Kiehl’s. It contains a bottle of Midnight Recovery Concentrate, the new Midnight Recovery Eye and a Midnight Rhapsody Music CD.

I was actually introduced to Kiehl’s first night repair product Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate (S$90) in July 2010. It is specifically formulated to reinforce the skin during the peak recovery at night. This potent elixir is 99.8% natural and is FREE of paraben, fragrance and mineral oil.

A complex blend of naturally replenishing botanical oils including moisturizing Squalene and Evening Primrose (rich in Omega-3 fatty acids) and a blend of essential with known for their therapeutic, balancing and antioxidant effects, work with the skin’s natural nocturnal activity to instantly penetrate deep down and dramatically restore skin overnight.

And now in Oct 2011, Kiehl’s has proudly introduced a new addition to Midnight Recovery range and it is the Midnight Recovery Eye.

Midnight Recovery Eye – S$72 / 15ml

One Night. Two Drops. Younger Looking Eyes By Morning.

Midnight Recovery Eye, a 99% naturally derived botanical elixir, helps achieve fresher, younger looking eyes by morning by diminishing puffiness, fine lines and wrinkles. It is paraben-free, fragrance-free and mineral-free.

As the skin under the eyes is only 1/3 as thick as other facial skin, this under-eye area has the fewest sebaceous glands on the face, and therefore highly susceptible to dehydration, resulting in a weak barrier, a factor in the wrinkles.

Kiehl’s chemists developed Midnight Recovery Eye with active ingredient Butcher’s Broom (a root extract) and other essential and botanical oils to help reduce puffiness and strengthen the delicate eye area overnight. Butcher’s Broom is known to increase micro-circulation, reduce inflammation, strengthening blood vessels and reduce swelling of skin due to water retention caused by weak blood circulation. Midnight Recovery Eye utilizes these properties of Butcher’s Broom to soothe and calm under eye skin to reduce morning puffiness. The unique blend of oils such as Squalane, Evening Primrose and Lavender are claimed to help reinforce the protective barrier and slow the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

This smooth and creamy yet easy absorption texture leaves a very very slight greasiness on the skin which I’m pretty comfortable with. Upon application, I actually encounter a very very mild itchiness on the lower right eyelid which quickly disappears within a few seconds. Not sure if it’s due to alcohol denat or one of the fragrant oils in it.

Amazingly, this eye cream does instantly reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles on the lower eyelid areas upon one application. Fortunately I do not have any puffy eyes hence I wouldn’t be able to comment if this product works on this area. There is no result on the dark circles which I’m expected cos my dark circles are mainly due to poor blood circulation, skin thinning and pigmentation.

I’ve read before that applying oils under the eye is a bad idea & can lead to puffiness.

      Hi Lanny,

I’m glad you like reading my blog.

I’m love using Lancome Bi-Facil Non-oily Instant Cleanser to remove my eye makeup. You can check out Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Wrinkle Correcting Eye Cream. It’s pretty moisturizing and I’m currently using it too!
