Prevent Skin Aging With Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA+++

To me, sun protection is the most important prevention against skin aging. Leading dermatologist always recommend daily sunscreen as the number one measure necessary to protect skin against UVA and UVB rays, in turn slowing down the skin aging process. The signs of skin aging produced by ultraviolet light and in particular by UVA rays may amplify and speed up those effects due to chronological aging.

90% of skin aging can be prevented
with daily sunscreen use

Despite warnings from medical experts, many people today still do not include sunscreen use in their daily skin care regimen. The reasons vary but common complaints cited are that sunscreens are thick feeling, and can appear opaque on skin. Other complaints are that formulas clog pores and cause breakouts.

Before, I have the same concerns too and that is why I don’t even bother to wear any sunscreen until in my early 30s. It is when I noticed my first signs of aging and started to regret so much for not taking good care of my skin. It’s just like a wake-up call to me and it’s too late to undone the skin damages caused by the SUN. Therefore I strongly advise my readers, it’s never too late or early to start using sunscreen if you are still young. If only I have proper sun protection in my early days, I probably can delay the signs of aging much much later. Therefore, in response to customer demand for powerful daily sun protection against UVA and UVB rays, yet with an appealing, ultra-lightweight and translucent application, Kiehl’s is introducing Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF50 PA+++ to the Dermatologist Solutions collection of advanced treatments.

Oil Free. Fragrance Free. SPF 50+++

I especially like the translucent, lightweight and non-greasy texture. After application, this superb oil-free sunscreen absorbs easily onto the skin and my skin feels matt and doesn’t appear opaque at all. It’s so lightweight that I don’t even feel there’s anything on my face at all. The packaging is very light and I can carry it with me in my bag anywhere I go.

Key Ingredients

Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA+++ utilizes a high level of photostable sun filters Mexoryl SX and Mexoryl XL in combination with the antioxidant Vitamin E, which together provide skin with effective and balanced broad-spectrum sunscreen protection.

Studies have shown that Vitamin E is an excellent antioxidant. And new research indicates that the addition of topical antioxidant like vitamin E can significantly increase protection from the harmful effects of sunlight above and beyond the protection afforded by sunblock alone.

The dual-protection lotions helps to prevent sunburn caused from UVB rays and provides protection from the UVA rays that may contribute to skin damage and premature skin aging.

UVA Rays can penetrate through windows,
light clothing, car windshields,
even on a cloudy day!

UVA – “A” for “Aging”

UVA penetrates the epidermis where connective tissue and blood vessels exist. The result is premature aging of the skin, known as cutaneous photoaging, which causes the skin to thin, sag, wrinkle and develop hyperpigmentation marks.

UVB – “B” for “Burning”

UVB rays stimulate the formulation of melanin, causing a significant pigmentation of the skin. This darkening effect will be evident after approximately 23 hours and is relatively long-lasting. A large dose of UVB radiation will cause acute sunburn, redness, burning sensation and blistering.

What does PA+++ mean?

PA stand for Protection grade of UVA. The PA rating system shows the level of protection against UVA rays (aging rays), with the highest index being PA+++ as extremely effective protection against UVA rays.

SPF – Sun Protection Factor

The SPF of a sunscreen is a laboratory measure of the effectiveness of sunscreen against UVB rays (the ultraviolet radiation that causes sunburn). The higher the SPF, the more protection a sunscreen offers.

    Hi babe,

Understand that you previously did a review for Clarins sunblock too. Comparing this and clarins, which do you think is a better choice for combination skin? Which is lighter/absorbs into the skin faster with better oil control?

    Appreciate your help. thanks! :)

  2. Shirleen says:

    Hi Desiree,

Both are equally good but Kiehl’s sunscreen is slightly lighter in texture and less oily after application.

I feel that Kiehl’s sunscreen is a ideal choice for combination/oily skin as it is oil-free.

You may go down to any of the Kiehl’s outlet before 30th Apr and grab the sample before buying! :-)

    I don’t think so.

  5. Kate says:

    Hi sherleen,

Is it also good to use this during swimming time? If not what sun screen do you use?

  6. Shirleen says:

    Hi Kate,

This Kiehl’s sunscreen is not waterproof. You need to use a waterproof sunscreen for water sports.

Got something to say? Go for it!
