[Review] CoolSculpting Newest Applicator – CoolAdvantage

Many years back, I’ve tried the CoolSculpting using the first generation applicator. CoolSculpting is currently the only “fat freezing” machine approved by FDA.

Click here to read the previous review on the older applicator.

CoolSculpting, manufactured by Zeltiq, introduced newest applicators that now come in different shapes to cater to different treatment areas. Additional benefits is that the newest applicators can decrease treatment times by nearly half for most areas and also you can now utilize two applicators at one time.

So what is CoolScultping?

Rather than using the heating technology to destroy fat, CoolSculpting procedure involves the non-invasive of body fat to break down fat cells, resulting in a reduction of body fat without harming surrounding tissues.

During the CoolSculpting treatment, a non-invasive applicator delivers precisely controlled cooling to the treatment area, specifically targeting the underlying fat and leaving surface skin and other surrounding tissue unaffected. When fat cells are exposed to extreme cold, they die naturally through a process called apoptosis. In the following days, the dead cells are naturally removed by the body’s lymphatic system, which gradually reduces the thickness of the fat layer.

In early August 2017, I was pleased to try out the newest CoolSculpting applicator at Calvin Chan Aesthetic & Laser Clinic, located at 501 Orchard Road #05-11 Wheelock Place, +65 6732 4981 (after hours: +65 9456 7113).

I’m not interested in anything surgical, hence I find CoolSculpting is the best choice to help reduce the stubborn fat on my abdomen that doesn’t seem to respond to regular exercise or calorie restricted diet.

The newest CoolSculpting applicators that comes with different shapes and sizes, to help fit the specific areas on the body. One applicator may be better than another depending on the area you might want to treat, such as love handles or the back of our waist.

The therapist began the treatment by drawing some markings on my abdomen where the applicator will be placed later. I was given 2 treatments, marked in green and red. To get the optimal results, the area right below the belly button was treated twice with the same applicator. :D

In fact, you can opt to be treated with 2 CoolSculpting machines at one go in Calvin Chan clinic. It can shorten the treatment time when 2 applicators are utilized at one time.

Unlike the older applicator which need an hour for each session, the newest applicator only needs 35 minutes.

A piece of cooling gel was placed on the abdomen before the suction began. It felt really cold on my skin.

Surprisingly, I didn’t feel much when my skin was being pulled and sucked for the first time.

Gradually after a few minutes, the treated section began to feel tight. I could feel a tingling and tapping sensation running from right to left and to right again (back and forth) on the treated area. These sensations gradually subsided as the area became numb.

When the therapist removed the applicator, the treated area was swollen and red, I could immediately feel the numbing pain.

As the numbness is more intense with this newest applicator, the after-effect is slightly more painful than the older applicator.

After the applicator was removed, a quick massage (about 2 minutes) is required, to help increase the result by up to 60%.

I felt the pain when the massage began, but after a minute the pain gradually subsided.

After 2 minutes of massage, the treated area appeared less red and swollen. It doesn’t feel pain anymore however my skin is extremely tender to touch.

The therapist continued the next session on the right side of my abdomen.

After the treatment…

15 days after the treatment, my abdomen still feels numbing. I can feel the fainting pain and numbing sensation when I gently press on the treated area, it is still tender to touch. The dulling of sensation in the treated area actually lasts for almost 5 weeks after the procedure.

After 1.5 months, I can really see the results. The fat reduction is pretty significant, probably about 20%! My abdomen appears less flabby and my belly is flattened! The fat bulge is almost invisible. :D

Though it usually takes about 3 to 4 weeks to see results, depending on individual’s metabolism and diet, I’m pleased to see results after 1.5 months.

Unlike surgical treatment like liposuction, CoolSculpting has minimal risks due to its non-invasive nature and does not require downtime.
