[Review] Restylane Skinboosters Treatment

One of my beauty secrets to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles is to keep my skin well hydrated at all times. Apart from drinking lots of plain water, I will also apply adequate amount of hydrating serum and moisturizer that preferably contains hyaluronic acid. In fact hyaluronic acid is one of the main components of the skin that actually helps give our skin a radiant look. As we age the skin’s ability to produce hyaluronic acid decreases and can result in drier and thinner skin with a dull complexion. When my skin is hydrated, fine lines and wrinkles will tend to look less noticeable, the skin will appear less dull too.

A couple of weeks back, I was pleased to try out the Restylane Skinboosters treatment, administrated by Dr Chee from Chelsea Clinic at Wheelock Place. Restylane Skinboosters are stabilised hyaluronic molecules of non-animal origin, in a smooth, pure crystal clear gel state produced by patented NASHA® technology. It resembles the skin’s own hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring substance in the skin for restoring hydrobalance, and in turn, making the skin look plump, smooth and elastic. A series of micro-injections are injected into our skin.

Whilst Restylane fillers smooth away wrinkles and add volume to facial features, Restylane Skinboosters™ works to improve the skin’s overall quality by boosting hydration levels deep inside the skin and increasing its smoothness, elasticity and firmness.

Before the whole procedure, a topical anesthetic cream was applied to the injection area and covered with plastic wrap for about 30 minutes. Prior the injection, I was given a mild laser treatment on my whole face.

During the Restylane Skinboosters™ treatment, Dr Chee gave a series of tiny injections into my skin, using a very fine needle. The pain was bearable, felt like ants bite (but a more intense version). Depending on the dermis thickness, Dr Chee placed the needle at the different depth on varies treated areas. The injection depth on cheek and chin is about 1.2mm whilst forehead at 0.8mm. After the injections, cold compression was performed to reduce the pain.

After the injections are done, the therapist helped to apply the stem cells mask on my face. The injection procedure takes about 15 minutes only.

I don’t remember any swelling or pain upon the whole procedure, except minor irritation on my cheek area (first two days only) and red marks all over my face. These red marks were completely subsided after two weeks later.

A month after the treatment, my skin appears more hydrated, healthy and slightly glowing. My skin looks good even without foundation.

To see better results, it is recommended to complete an initial course of 3 treatments, each approximately 4 weeks apart. As I’m currently not in SG, the second treatment will be pushed till I’m back home for holiday.

Restylane Skinboosters treatment costs S$750 for single session (per syringe) and S$1988 for 3 sessions. No consultation charges. Restylane Skinboosters can be used with other skin treatments or procedures.

    Hey Shirleen,

For this treatment is it purely Hyaluronic boosters only? or it comes with additional serum boosters such as placenta or licorice and other goodies. I think this is made famous in taiwan and korean using the same technique but it seems to be without the benefits of tackling pigmentation and scarring.

WHen are you going for the second treatment? Do let me know if it really lasts up to a year? :P

Also are you allowed to do other form of facial treatments after doing this?

Hey Shirleen, the effects look so good on you! I am taking the plunge to give it a try! Are you going for the subsequent two treatments? If yes, do keep us updated on how long the effect lasted. <333

    Hello Shirleen,
Did your injections involve the tear trough? I am keen on eradicating my dark circles and under eyes hollowness with restylane injections. Are you still going for your restylane injections? Any updates?

    Stay gorgeous! :)

      Hi Sash,

It doesn’t involve tear trough though. I haven’t gone for the second round yet. As the needle used is very tiny, I’m afraid Restylane Skinboosters Treatment may not be able to tackle your dark circles and under eye hollowness though. But you can go for the usual Restylane injection with thicker needle.
