[Review] Eyes By Thermage® at SL Clinic by Dr Kelvin Chua

I noticed the skin around my eyes is one of the first places to show signs of aging. The skin in this area is said to be 40% thinner than anywhere else on my face, causing it to age faster. As I age, fine lines around the eye area become more apparent. The upper eyelids become droopy, puffy and heavier, and that make me appear tired. What I hate most is the crepey texture of my eyelids that make it hard for me to apply eyeshadow.

Before, eye lift surgery was seem to be the only solution to reverse the aging around the eyes however there are potential side effects and risks involved with any surgical procedure. I’m not ready to go under the knife at this moment for sure. Fortunately, there’s a proven non-invasive procedure that can help to reverse the aging around my eyes – it is the Thermage® Eye Procedure.

The Thermage® Eye Procedure is the only procedure that helps smooth and tighten skin and decrease wrinkles and hooding the eye area without surgery or injections, and little to no downtime. I’m pleased to learn that Thermage has the industry’s first and only FDA clearance for non-invasive eyelid treatments.

Three months ago, I have FINALLY gone for the Thermage Eye Procedure at SL Clinic, performed by Dr Kelvin Chua. Yes FINALLY! I have always wanted to go for this treatment for the longest time! WooHoo! <grinning>

This picture was taken before the procedure, with missing double eyelids.

Dr Kelvin Chua performed the Thermage Eye procedure on my upper and lower eyelids. Prior the procedure, a nurse assisted me to put plastic oscular shields to protect my eyes which are a little uncomfortable but bearable. The whole procedure took less than an hour and the pain is pretty bearable.

This picture was taken right after the treatment. No swelling and bruising with only very mild redness below the lower right eyelid which subsided within a few minutes. I can apply makeup immediately if I want to.

3 months later………

thermage eye review

The heavy upper eyelids appear less droopy and the fine lines at the lower eyelids appear less visible too.

The crepey texture of the upper eyelids have significantly improved. The skin appears smoother and firmer.

The crow’s feet appear less visible too.

Overall, I’m very pleased with the results, I couldn’t ask for more. My eyes look younger and lifted now. I like the idea that this Thermage Eye Procedure uses radiofrequency technology to heat the deep, collagen rich layers of my skin which in terms helps to remodel existing skin’s collagen around my eyes and produce new collagen too, which surgical eye lift is not able to provide. This also implies that I may able to see further improvement for the next 3 months too. All with just a single procedure!

SL Clinic is located at Wheelock Place #04-04 Tel: 6235 3246 and Plaza Singapura #03-33 Tel: 6336 1106. The price for Thermage® Eye procedure is S$2500.

    Hi Shirleen,

Thanks for sharing your experience here. I’m also interested in Thermage and wondering if it was the same machine that was used for your treatment at Dr. Chee last year. I actually live in HK but found the prices for Thermage treatment are so much cheaper than those of HK. So I’m quite keen but curious to know why you went to a different doctor for the eye procedure because it seemed like you were quite pleased with Dr. Chee. May I ask why?

    Kind regards,
    Bonny

      Hi Bonny,

I’m pleased with both doctors. I was introduced to Dr Kelvin Chua for eye procedure hence thinking to give it a try.

    Hi Shirleen,

Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m also interested in Thermage, probably for both my face and eyes. I read your other review of your Thermage face treatment by Dr. Chee and it seemed like you were quite pleased with the result. So I’m just wondering why you went to a different doctor for the eye procedure. Did they use the same machine? I actually live in HK but I found the Thermage treatment prices here are way higher than those quote in Singapore. So I may just go for it in Singapore instead while I visit my friends there. But I think it’s just easier to go to one clinic to get everything done rather than going to two. So it’ll be great if you can share your thoughts.

    Kind regards,
    Bonny

      Hi Bonny,

Yes I have recently learned that Thermage is more expensive in Hong Kong. It will be easier to go to one clinic for both treatments. I’m pleased with both doctors.

Hi Shirleen, the treatment looks impressive! May I know which branch did you go to? What would be the recommended frequency for such treatment? Thanks!

    Hi Shirleen

Thanks for your informative update. I am keen on thermage for my face. I am wondering in your experience, how long does the effect of thermage last? Also, have you tried ultherapy before? There are a lot of debates on which is a better treatment on the web and I am undecisive which to try.

    • Shirleen says:

      Hi Theresa,

I’ve never tried ultherapy before but I believe Thermage has a better result and moreover it’s almost painless (Total Tip), unlike ultherapy. The latest Thermage treatment (Total Tip) was done less than a year. The result still visible as of now.

Got something to say? Go for it!
