Review – THERMAGE® TOTAL TIP – A Non-Invasive Skin Tightening Procedure

I realized my skin has aged rapidly after hitting my 35 ten years ago. As I age, my skin is losing its elasticity that causes sagging jawline, nasolabiol folds (the folds that run from each side of the nose to the mouth) and marionette lines (the lines that run straight downwards from the corners of the mouth).

Now at 45, I believe I’m an ideal candidate for surgical face lifting. But with all the new non-invasive technologies (designed to reverse skin aging) launched in the market in the recent years, the surgical facelift with potential risk and downtime, is obviously not the best option to take years off my face.

To reverse my signs of aging, I WANT a safe procedure that not only helps lifts up my sagging skin with zero potential risk factor, gives reliable results with minimum to zero recovery and pain factors, and also helps increase collagen production that gives a long-lasting benefit! And Thermage fits the bill perfectly! Surgical facelift cannot build collagen.

I have to confess I’m a super big fan of Thermage treatment. I’ve tried all the generations of Thermage, including the most painful first generation (original), second generation (Thermage NXT) and third generation (Thermage CPT).

Solta Medical, the leading aesthetics company behind Thermage, is proud to announce the launch of Thermage Total Tip 3.0 – a new and improved tip designed for the use on the face, neck and body that aims to deliver as much as twice the bulk heating volume which allows more tissue to be heated to higher temperatures, hence delivering greater results.

Three months ago, I was super delighted to be one of the first to try out this new Thermage Total Tip 3.0! I’m now ready to review the treatment!

I have my treatment done at Dr Benjamin Yim Clinical Aesthetic & Laser Centre.

After discussing with Dr Yim on the areas I’m most unhappy with, he made some markings on the areas which require more attention later. Really hate the fat deposit at the marionette lines. My jawline is slightly sagging and that makes me look older.

Dr Yim concentrated a lot on my sagging jawline and double chin areas. Looking forward to a more defined jawline. <grinning>

Unlike the other generations of Thermage tips, I didn’t have to apply any numbing cream prior the Thermage Total Tip 3.0 treatment at all. Thanks to the new design of the tip that gives twice the bulk and uniform heating, the whole procedure is almost painless, even without any numbing cream! I’m absolutely impressed! I only felt superficial pinching sensation at the areas around the cheekbone, temple and corner of the mouth. The reason I’m so impressed with this new Total Tip is because I have tried the previous generations of Thermage tips and I’ve experienced the different comfort levels and pain thresholds on each of the three generation tips. The Total Tip treatment is almost painless and there’s obviously a dramatic improvement on the comfort level and pain threshold over the generations! Great job Thermage!

I was told that the new Total Tip is able to deliver as much as twice the bulk heating volume that delivers greater results. Thanks to the design of the tip, the heating profile is very uniformed, hence heat delivery is faster and stays at the area throughout the entire treatment. This allows the collagen to be heated longer, which accounts for the immediate effect that patients will see post treatment.

Dr Yim treated one side of my face (on my right cheek) and I immediately could see a difference on both sides of my face. My right side appears firmer and slimmer too.

Here I am after the treatment, I’m glad there’s no downtime. No bruising or redness at all! The whole treatment took about 45 minutes. I even went shopping upon the treatment.

I remembered I was out with some friends at ION the next day and was looking at myself in the toilet mirror. I was overjoyed when I took a close look at myself and suddenly realized my face actually appears slimmer! I really love it! The slimmer face shape actually makes me look a few years younger.

Three months upon the treatment, I noticed my face appears firmer and lifted! There’s a slight improvement on my nasolabiol folds. No visible improvement on my marionette lines yet.

One obvious result I have noticed is my eyebrows! My eyebrows appear lifted and look straighter than before. WoW!! Love my non-surgical BROWLIFT result with Thermage!

It seems like I have a non-surgical FOREHEAD LIFT with Thermage Total Tip too! I’m so happy that the fine lines on my forehead have reduced significantly! My forehead appears firmer! Love it!

Overall, I’m very pleased with the results. I hope to see more visible results on my jawline and marionette lines though. Seriously, I’m thinking to go for another treatment in three months’ time, a 6-month interval treatment. I can’t stop myself obsessing Thermage! <grinning>

    Hi shirleen,
My thermage CPT.done 9 months ago at KL. It’s not lasting, my jowls start sagging again. Yet I’m quite surprised to learn from a doc here that thermage is “gold” standard. I will not attempt the Thermage total tip bcuz Thermage isn’t really cheap. Even done in KL, with airfare and 2-way taxi, I saved about $500. .
I am considering Exilis for toning, rejuvenation and smooth out my lines.
    It’s a cheaper alternative I guess.
