Review – Estee Lauder Soft Clean Silky Hydrating Lotion

I have came across Estee Lauder Soft Clean Silky Hydrating Lotion at one of the beauty review site and it is reviewed as one of the “BEST TONER” in the market. So to give it a benefit of the doubt, I decided to give it a try and to see if it is what it has claimed to be.

For the last couple of years, I have never stopped searching for a good toner. I have tried and tested numerous toners but I finally realized that it is so hard to find a suitable toner for my skin type – rosacea and sensitive skin.

Product Claims

This gentle, soothing toning lotion cushions your skin, leaving it feeling soft, supple, luxuriously hydrated.

Estee Lauder Soft Clean Silky Hydrating Lotion contains mainly water, silicone, emulsifier and thickener. It also contains several plant fragrant floral extracts like leontopodium alpinum flower extract, passiflora incarnata flower extract and lythrum salicaria extract.

I believe what makes this toner scores a good rating is that it contains plentiful of emollients and skin-binding agents like triticum vulgare (wheat) germ extract, sucrose, cholesterol, sodium hyaluronate, phospholipids, sodium PCA and trehalose.

But the setback is that it contains fragrance which can irritate skin.

Estee Lauder Soft Clean Silky Hydrating Lotion, a alcohol-free skin-beneficial toner, is a great alternative for normal to dry skin. Thanks to the plentiful of emollients and skin-binding agents in it. As I’m having dry skin, after using twice a day constantly, I realize there is superficial improvement on skin hydration and softness.

BUT, what turn me off on this toner is the excessive fragrance in it. My sensitive skin occasionally gets irritation and redness after usage. Is kind of love-&-hate feeling towards this product! Love the abundance hydrating benefits but hate the fragrance! This Estee Lauder’s toner is almost as perfect as it has claimed to be but why so much fragrance!!?? I just don’t get it! The overkill fragrance has destroy the goodness on this product. What a waste!!

Due to the phobia, I have to cut down on the usage recently. I have only used up barely a quarter of this 200ml toner.

If you do not have sensitive skin, you may want to risk trying this hydrating toner. If only there’s no fragrance – I would have given Estee Lauder Soft Clean Silky Hydrating Lotion five-star rating and as one of my ‘can’t leave without it’ product!

Will I buy again? NO WAY!

    Hi Christine,

I’m quite surprised that your skin never react from the skin-irritant ingredients in Perfectly Clean Fresh Balancing Lotion. For me, my skin will definitely get flared up with fragrance plant extracts & menthol.

Since the skin-irritant ingredients have not caused any irritation to your skin, I believe you can try out this Soft Clean Silky Hydrating lotion too. I like the hydrating benefits but not the excessive fragrance. :-)

Got something to say? Go for it!
