Review – Paula’s Choice Super Antioxidant Concentrate, My Anti-Aging Preventer

Paula’s Choice Super Antioxidant Concentrate is another ‘must-have’ product for my daily skin care regimen. In fact, I’m having my third serum tube now.

What is antioxidant?

As you should know the importance on combating free radicals with antioxidants by now. If you don’t, I shall give you a brief description on this potent ingredient. Studies have shown that antioxidants have the ability to reduce or prevent some amount of the oxidative damage that destroys and depletes the skin’s function and structure, while also preventing some amount of the degeneration of skin and its support structure caused by sunlight.

In fact, if you realize there are many cosmetic companies emphasis a lot on antioxidants when marketing their anti-aging skin care products. Usually, they will try to incorporate the antioxidants as the key ingredients and claim them as the ‘innovative breakthrough’ ingredients to reverse signs of aging. But the true fact is the key ingredients present in minuscule quantities which most of the time do nothing good to the skin at all. So not to be surprised, even you finish that whole miracle jar, you will probably may not be able to see any results at all.

Disarm free radicals with antioxidant

Free radicals are caused by smoking, pollution, sun exposure, stress and poor diet. Free radicals have the ability to steal atoms from the lipids in the cell wall and break down the cell barrier, the membrane that holds the cell together and defends it. And the result is water escapes from the cell, leading to irreparable injury and premature cell death. By keeping the skin flooded with antioxidants, much of this damage and water loss are prevented.

As free radicals damage the skin cells hence wrinkles, lines and sagging will start to appear. Fortunately, free radical damage is one aging factor that we can do something about.

Product profile

Paula’s Choice Super Antioxidant Concentrate infuses skin with this unique mixture of antioxidants and anti-irritants which help skin heal, create new collagen, produce healthier skin cells, and improve resilience while creative a natural finish that is neither emollient nor matte.

Paula’s Choice Super Antioxidant Concentrate contains plentiful of antioxidants like vitamin C, vitamin E, coenzyme Q10, alpha lipoic acid, caffeic acid, green tea and many more.

One of the plus point is that it doesn’t contains any skin irritant ingredients hence it’s a safe product for people with sensitive skin like me.

Firstly, I really like the texture a lot. This silky transparent serum in a base formula that’s neither matte nor emollient.

One of the important thing about skin care products that contain antioxidants is the packaging. Antioxidants is claimed to deteriorate when repeatedly exposed to air (oxygen) and sunlight. Hence, an antioxidant-laden skin care product packaged in a jar or clear container will likely to lose its antioxidant benefit within weeks of being opened.

Fortunately, Paula’s Choice Super Antioxidant Concentrate is packaged in opaque tube and hence minimize exposing the product to air.

I use Paula’s Choice Super Antioxidant Concentrate every morning before my moisturizer. It helps to protect my skin by preventing free radical damage hence a more healthy and youthful looking skin. With this product, I have this sense of assurance as I know I have done something beneficial to my skin and I’m really proud of it.

Will I buy again? That’s for sure!

I liked it. So much useful material. I read with great interest.

I read a few topics. I respect your work and added blog to favorites.

  3. If you are looking into anti aging products you should make sure that the product you choose helps build up collagen and elastin.

As one grows older, the ability of the skin to perspire is reduced. Thus more and more people experience dryness of the skin because aging also leads to decreased levels of oils into the skin.

A diet rich in fruits and vegetables can contribute to the elasticity of your skin.A good anti-aging skin care treatment never underestimates the value of taking 10-12 glasses of water daily.

A healthy way of life will sure have a great impact on your anti aging beauty treatment.

I heard that product works pretty well but I never tried it.

I used Artistry’s time defiance eye lifting creme and loved it! You can feel it working and get people notice within days of use..for me anyway. I think it’s worth a shot because they have a money back gurantee. To check it out go to:

been hearing about Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Synchronised Recovery Complex is good for rejuvenating & firming skin. Any experience?

  6. Shirleen says:

    Hi Esther,

I’ve never tried this product before. I understand that it is quite similar to the original Advanced Night Repair (which has been discontinued) but with three new beneficial ingredients in it.

    I believe it’s worth a try.

    Dear Shirleen:

    thanks for your great reviews.

When i checked out the Singapore’s site I found out that the product packaging posted in here is different than the ones (there are two anti-oxidant serums) in Paula’s site.
    Which one do you recommend?
Btw, I am currently using Sisley Vitamin C ampules, just about to finish the first vial (so 7 more to got).
    Thank you, dear.

  10. Shirleen says:

    Hi Linda,

Yes, the white packaging of Super Antioxidant Concentrate (as above) has been replaced with the new Resist Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum.

Among the 2 antioxidant serums on SG site, I will prefer the new Resist Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum.

Oh you are now using the Sisley Vitamin C serum, I hope it works on you. ;-)

Got something to say? Go for it!
