[Review] – Clarins Face Treatment Oil, Blue Orchid, For Dehydrated Skin

My skin is quite dehydrated most of the times. And the dehydration has caused visible fine lines on my forehead. I can only blame myself for not hydrating my skin properly for the past few years.

Quite some time ago, I have attended a Clarins event and I was introduced to a facial treatment oil. It is the Clarins Face Treatment Oil, Blue Orchid, For Dehydrated Skin. It contains 100% pure aromatic plant extract face treatment oil that is said to restore vitality, freshness and radiance to dull, dehydrated skin.

Before trying it, I was rather skeptical about putting oil on my face. I’m actually worried it will clog my pores.

I got to try it for the first time during the event. Immediately upon full face application, I looked at myself in the mirror and said to myself “hmm….not too bad, my skin doesn’t feel greasy at all”. I requested to review the face treatment oil soon after.

To use, I first put a drop of the treatment oil (about the size of ten cents coin) onto my palm. Follow by rubbing both palms to warm up the treatment oil. And then I press my warm palms gently onto my face and neck, avoiding the upper eyelids.

The treatment oil contains emollients Corylus Aveilana (Hazel) Seed Oil and antioxidant Coumarin.

However the treatment oil contains a handful of irritating ingredients such as Fragrance, Pogostemon Cablin Oil, Linalool, Limonene and Eugenol, but thankfully I have not experienced any skin irritation so far. Not forgetting I have sensitive skin.

This natural essential oil has a unique aroma but I can’t smell much of the fragrance. I only use this treatment oil during my night regimen, right after the toner and before the serum and night moisturizer. My skin doesn’t feel greasy upon full absorption and it doesn’t clog my pores at all. I always make sure it is fully absorbed before applying the serum and moisturizer. On each use, my skin feels soft, smooth and hydrated in the next morning. Fortunately, the irritating essential oils doesn’t cause any irritation to my sensitive skin.

Whenever my skin is dehydrated, my foundation doesn’t stay and my skin will turn quite oily in the afternoon. It is due to the lack of water content in my skin hence it causes the skin to overcompensate by producing even more sebum or oil. Hence right after using the face treatment oil, my skin doesn’t feel oily on the next day and my makeup stays well too. In fact, this is one of my ways to determine whether or not my skin is dehydrated.

I couldn’t believe I’ve finished up a bottle and I was actually thinking to get a new one soon. But fortunately, I have received a new bottle during the recent Christmas lunch gathering with the Clarins team. Many thanks to Clarins Singapore.

I’ve also received the treatment oil for the body too. This Tonic Body Treatment Oil, contains 100% pure plant extracts, is said to help improve body firming and toning.

Plus a lovely white pouch that contains deluxe size lip products. This lipstick and lip gloss gift set is presented to a few of us (bloggers) and the media only. It’s sad that Clarins Singapore has decided to stop selling the range of makeup products at Singapore counters.

Clarins Face Treatment Oil, Blue Orchid, For Dehydrated Skin is priced at S$65 and Tonic Body Treatment Oil is priced at S$78.
