Review – Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15

Many months ago, I’ve received an invitation to review Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 and I readily agreed after finding out that it is a fragrance-free day moisturizer formulated with sufficient UVA protection.

I’ve received it in a nice baby blue bag.

Product Claim

Cetaphil® Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 is specially formulated to be effective, light and silky-smooth – ideal for facial use. In addition to providing gentle moisturization for all skin types, Cetaphil® Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 gives you moderate protection against damaging UVA and UVB rays that are responsible for premature lines and wrinkles. This skin moisturizer is lightweight, fragrance-free and suitable for use under makeup or after shaving.

Parsol® 1789, a patented broad-spectrum UVA-blocking ingredient, offers high protection against UVA. Parsol® 1789 together with Octocrylene (10%) which protects skin against the entire UVB wavelength, ensuring that the skin is protected against damage from UV radiation daily.

It contains a couple of moisturizing ingredients such as glycerin, diisopropyl adipate and cyclomethicone to help hydrate skin all day long.

After running through the ingredient list, I’m glad to learn that Cetaphil® Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 doesn’t contains any skin irritants or fragrance. It contains sufficient UVA protectors and emollients to keep skin hydrate all day long.

Cetaphil® Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 has a light creamy texture that leaves a light greasy feeling upon application.

For a matte finish, I will then apply powder foundation or loose powder over the whole face and neck. Fortunately, my skin doesn’t turn oily nor shiny even after many hours later, except my nose will usually turn slightly oily after hours later which I’ve already used to it since my early teens.

What makes me a little uncomfortable about this product is the wastage I get from the unfriendly pump dispenser. So this is the excessive amount (above picture) I get with just 1 single pump. I probably need to be more gentle to pump only half next time. I only require to use a third or less of the amount for my whole face and neck.

It has this lock/unlock pump dispenser system that prevents product to be pumped out unnecessary.

All-in-all, Cetaphil® Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 is a good, simple, avobenzone-based sunscreen moisturizer that is suitable for normal to dry skin, including sensitive skin too. Great thing is it contains adequate sunscreen ingredients to provide broad spectrum protection and it is free of irritating ingredients such as fragrance.

Although it is a well-formulated UV protection day moisturizer which is fragrance-free, I find the texture a little too greasy for me to be used in the day.

Cetaphil® Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15, retailing at S$24.90 (recommended retail price) in 118ml, is available at Guardian, Watsons, Unity and selected hospital retail pharmacy outlets.

Will I buy it next time? Maybe not!
