A few months ago, I’ve received 4 amazing anti-aging products from Paula’s Choice Singapore and I’ve actually reviewed 3 of them recently. In fact 2 of them, Resist Daily Smoothing Treatment with 5% Alpha Hydroxy Acid and Resist Weekly Resurfacing Treatment with 10% Alpha Hydroxy Acid are my 10 most must-have beauty products at the moment!

Paula’s Choice Resist Cellular Defense Daily Moisturizer w/ SPF 25 & Antioxidants is a 100% fragrance-free, color-free and skin irritants-free day moisturizer cum sunscreen that provides UV protection with SPF 25. It is formulated for normal to dry skin including sensitive skin and rosacea-affected skin (like mine) too.

Resist Cellular Defense Daily Moisturizer w/ SPF 25 & Antioxidants contains 8% of Titanium Dioxide that is capable to absorb UV light energy and prevent it from impacting your skin. It also contains a couple of potent antioxidants such as Tocopherol, Buddleja Davidii Extract and Thymus Vulgaris Extract to help protect your cells against the effects of free radicals.

Review

As Resist Cellular Defense Daily Moisturizer w/ SPF25 & Antioxidants is formulated with potent mineral-based sunscreen ingredient Titanium Dioxide and hence it is recommended to be used as the last step of the morning regimen. It is not necessary to apply any sunscreen after Resist Daily Moisturizer w/ SPF25 as it is formulated with 8% Titanium Dioxide that provides effective broad-spectrum sun protection and it’s claimed to be sufficient to protect skin from UV light exposure. But due to its thick texture and I only apply a superficial amount over the entire face, I therefore have to complete my last step with a sunscreen instead.

One thing I’m not pleased with this Resist moisturizer is the weird thick creamy texture that it’s a little too rich for day use. That is why this day moisturizer is ideal for people with normal to very dry skin. The rich texture is more ideal for night use, not for day use though. And I also dislike the packaging especially whenever I try to close it by twisting the cap back, more cream dispense out from the dispenser hole again. What a waste and a mess too!

What great about this day moisturizer is the potent antioxidants contain in it. These amazing ingredients help to defend the skin from environmental stressors, allowing the skin to repair itself on a cellular level, and restoring skin’s ability to resist further signs of aging. And thanks to Titanium Dioxide, this day moisturizer provides extremely effective mineral-based, broad-spectrum sun protection.

Upon application, it leaves a tinge of white cast which seems to disappear within seconds. My skin feels smooth and hydrated. I do not fancy the odorless scent of this 100% fragrance free moisturizer.

All-in-all, Resist Cellular Defense Daily Moisturizer w/ SPF25 & Antioxidants is quite an amazing broad-spectrum day moisturizer cum sunscreen. This well formulated moisturizer is free of harmful skin irritants and is extremely suitable for my sensitive and rosacea skin. I would have given a high rating for this Resist day moisturizer if not because of the bad packaging and the thick texture.

    Hi,

I’m Asian-American and 53 years old. A little over a month ago I bought the entire Paula’s Choice skin care regimen for combination skin.

I had chatted online with a Paula’s Choice specialist and she told me which products I should use. Once receiving the products, I followed her instructions as to how to use their products. Within a few days, my face broke out with tiny bumps. I called and spoke with someone about the problems I was having.

She told me that I was given the wrong info and to not use any of the Retinol products for one week and that the bumps will go away. Most of the bumps went away, so on Day 9 I began using all the products as she had specifically told me. My face has the tiny bumps again and my skin is kind of rough now.

I am returning all of the skin care products ($200+). I do like their mascara Illicit Lash Maximum Impact Mascara. It doesn’t flake or smudge at all. Their Gentle Touch Makeup Remover is very gentle and does a great job. However, the mascara is extremely wet and will go one very gloppy. I wipe a lot of the mascara off the brush onto a tissue before applying it – that takes care of problem, but you do waste a lot of the product.

I was really hoping that Paula’s Choice would work out.

    Hi Mignon,

It’s so unfortunate that you have such a bad experience with Paula’s Choice products. US$200 worth of products are quite a lot!

I’m now using the Retinol serum and my skin actually loves it. But my skin somewhat begins to dislike AHA products (encounter minor irritation) and I have stopped using it recently.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us, appreciate it! ;-)

  3. Claire says:

    Hi Shirleen,

So you are not using your Paula AHA products (Daily smoothing and weekly resurfacing) anymore now except the retinol serum?

  4. Shirleen says:

    Hi Claire,

I’m still occasionally using the Daily Smoothing but not the Weekly Resurfacing cos I find it too strong for my sensitive skin. I will only use the Daily Smoothing if I have planned to stay indoor the next day. I will stay out of sun as much as possible on the next day.
