Early last year in March 2012, I have participated in a Kiehl’s Bloggers Contest that was in conjunction with the launch of its new Clearly Corrective White range. I was extremely delighted to be one of the bloggers to win a Kiehl’s product hamper!! WOW!! And here are my winning blog posts :
My bad for taking so long to blog about them. <grinning> To redeem my winning, I was invited to Kiehl’s outlet at Plaza Singapura to select S$1000 worth of Kiehl’s products of my choice. Thanks to this winning, I’m given this opportunity to try out a handful of great Kiehl’s body and hair products.
Here’s my little secret, I actually did some homework before heading to the store hence I roughly know what I want hee hee……… Any skincare products with alcohol and fragrance are a NO-NO for my face!
So here’s a group shot after many months later. I hope I never miss out any of the products. My bad for not taking a group shot of the products upon collection.
Clockwise from top left : Olive Fruit Oil Deeply Repairative Hair Pak, Creme de Corps Soy Milk & Honey Whipped Body Butter, Tea Tree Oil Shampoo, Rice & White Volumizing Shampoo, Superbly Restorative Argan Body Lotion, Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA+++, Superbly Efficient Anti-Perspirant & Deodorant Cream, Intensive Treatment & Moisturizer, Abyssine Eye Cream, Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado, Superbly Smoothing Argan Shampoo, Ultimate Thickening Shampoo, Deluxe Hand & Body Lotion with Aloe Vera & Oatmeal “Lavender”, Ultra Facial Toner, Gentle Exfoliating Body Scrub “Lavender” and Creme de Corps Soy Milk & Honey Body Polish.
As of now, I have tested most of the products and I’m now ready to share my thoughts on them.
Kiehl’s Deluxe Hand & Body Lotion with Aloe Vera & Oatmeal “Lavender” – S$43 / 250ml
My first impression with this body lotion is great! Love the soothing lavender scent a lot! In fact, lavender is always one of my preferred scents when it comes to body lotion. It has an ultra-light fluid emollient texture that absorbs into the skin immediately without leaving any greasy feeling at all. I actually hope the texture to be slightly more richer as I personally prefer something richer for my super dry skin actually. I have almost finishing the product and I am now enjoying every last bit of it.
Kiehl’s Creme de Corps Soy Milk & Honey Whipped Body Butter (with Shea & Jojoba Butters) – S$75 / 80z
This body cream was actually recommended by the Kiehl’s Consultation who was serving me during the prize selection. It is available in two sizes, 80z and 120z, retailing at S$75 and S$95 respectively. She suggested I should obtain the larger size tub as it’s more worthy. I eventually opted for the smaller size tub as the scent didn’t appeal to me upon the first contact. But now, I actually regretted it a lot for not taking the larger size tub. My dry skin absolutely loves it! I even apply it on my entire legs including the heel areas too. I extremely love the creamy rich texture yet it doesn’t leave any greasy feeling behind. Upon application, my skin feels ultra smooth, soft and hydrated. I love this product so much that I’m using it sparingly now. So what’s about the scent? Well, after continuously using it for a while, I begin to like it more and more! Highly recommended for those with super dry skin like mine! I’m planning to buy a large size tub soon! It is the best body cream I’ve tested this year!
Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado – S$57 / 15ml
This eye cream has a light, non-greasy texture that absorbs into the skin easily. If you looking for a non-greasy eye cream, then this eye cream will definitely be ideal for you. It moisturizes well and glides on the delicate eye area easily without leaving any oily traces on the skin. Hence I don’t have to worry about getting oil seed around the eye areas. This well formulated eye cream doesn’t contain ingredients that may cause irritation on the delicate skin. I like the idea that this eye cream is actually formulated with Avocado that is said to mimic the lipid content of skin and make dry skin looks and feels better.
Kiehl’s Tea Tree Oil Shampoo (for normal to oily hair type) – S$61 / 500ml
I have the habit of changing shampoo frequently and I hardly stick to a particular shampoo for long. I’ve tried many different brands of Tea Tree shampoos and I would say that this Kiehl’s Tea Tree Oil Shampoo is probably the best Tea Tree shampoo I’ve tried so far! Unlike most of the Tea Tree shampoos I’ve tested that usually contain peppermint which gives a cooling sensation to the scalp, this Kiehl’s shampoo doesn’t contain mint hence no cooling sensation while cleansing. Though it’s a nice feeling to have the cooling tingling sensation, however the mint is said to irritate or dehydrate the scalp. Upon washing, my hair actually feels soft, smooth and manageable, even before applying the hair conditioner. And most importantly my hair is less brittle and frizzy too! My scalp also feels super clean and less oily without the natural oils being stripped off. Though my overall hair feels soft, this shampoo (for normal to oily hair type) doesn’t make my roots looking flat which is good. It also comes in a 250ml size, retailing at S$41.
Kiehl’s Ultimate Thickening Shampoo (For Thinning Hair) – S$41 / 250ml
Although I do not have super fine hair (medium texture rather), however my hair (especially the crown) appears very flat most of the times. I actually like creating volume at the crown to make my face looks longer and slimmer. I decided to give this thickening shampoo a try to see if it can help to reduce the look of flat hair. Enriched with a blend of thickening polymers and a multi-protein formula (Omega-6 and Extracts of Rosemary, Cedarwood and Peppermint) that help fortify and texturize thinning hair. However, it doesn’t thicken my hair as I want it to be. Although the shampoo doesn’t create thicker nor fuller hair but fortunately my hair doesn’t look limp nor frizzy.
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Toner – S$45 / 250ml
Toner plays an important role for my night regimen. Anyway I don’t apply toner in the morning. Toner acts as a second step in the cleansing process which helps to remove the excess residue on the skin that the cleanser has missed. It also helps to prep my skin for the next skincare routine. I will apply a generous amount of the toner on my skin using a cotton pad. This mild facial toner has a super emollient milky texture that is super gentle for my sensitive skin. It doesn’t contain any irritants such as alcohol nor fragrance. I’m pleased to learn that it contains a handful of effective emollients such as Squalane, Apricot Kernel Oil, Avocado Oil and Vitamin E that are beneficial to the skin. Upon application, my skin appears soft, smooth and hydrate. It is suitable for all skin types including rosacea and sensitive skin.
Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA+++ UVA – S$68 / 30ml
Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA+++ is considered one of best sunscreens I’ve used so far! I like the idea that it is formulated with SPF 50 and PA+++ which protect skin against harmful UVB and UVA rays. UVA rays, in particular, is one of the major cause for signs of aging. This sunscreen utilizes a high level of photostable sun filters Mexoryl SX and Mexoryl XL in combination with the antioxidant Vitamin E, which together provide skin with effective and balanced broad-spectrum sunscreen protection.
It has a translucent, lightweight and non-greasy texture. I usually apply a thick layers of the sunscreen on my face. Upon application, my skin doesn’t appear opaque however it does leave a tinge of greasiness which is acceptable for me, due to the super generous amount I’ve used. I will usually leave it on for 5 minutes before applying any foundation or loose powder. It is fragrance-free and it’s pretty moisturizing that I can actually skip applying a day moisturizer.
Kiehl’s Superbly Efficient Anti-perspirant & Deodorant Cream – S$27 / 75ml
I’ve actually mentioned this deodorant a couple of times in other posts but I can’t stop endorsing it again! Kiehl’s Superbly Efficient Anti-Perspirant & Deodorant Cream is the best deodorant I have used so far! And is one product I won’t leave home without it! This must-have deodorant gives a refreshing scent with Orange, Lemon & Linseed Extracts. Its super light, non-sticky & slight creamy texture leaves skin feeling cool and dry. It doesn’t cause irritation and I love it so much that I have obtained two tubes actually!
Kiehl’s Gently Exfoliating Body Scrub “Lavender – S$43 / 200ml
Just like my face, my body needs exfoliation too. I always make an effort to exfoliate my body at least once per week. Exfoliation helps to get rid of the dead top layers of skin and allow the body cream to penetrate into the skin more effectively. Exfoliation also helps to heal my drying skin too. Formulated with gentle, natural exfoliation particles and skin-enriching emollients such as Aloe Vera and Chamomile), this gentle yet high effective lavender body scrub has a creamy abrasive texture that effectively removes dead surface skin cells without over-drying. Upon each usage, my skin feels clean, refreshed and smooth without feeling any tightness at all. I use this body scrub on my whole body focusing on armpits, elbows, knees, heels and fingers too.
Abyssine Eye Cream – S$59 / 14g
This anti-wrinkle defense eye cream is formulated with Survival Molecules and Corallina Extract that is said to help deter the effects of aging on the skin. It has a lightweight texture that absorbs into the skin pretty fast. Though I’m not able to see any improvement in the appearance of wrinkles around the eye areas but all-in-all it’s a pretty moisturizing eye cream.
Superbly Restorative Argan Body Lotion – S$100 / 475ml
This body lotion is blended with Moroccan Argan Oil and Argan Leaf Extract that are high in antioxidants and essential fatty acids. Argan, often known as liquid gold, is claimed to help tissue healing (scars) and reduce the look of wrinkles. Its refreshing, citrus scent (containing orange peel) is super appealing to me. Love the scent very much! Though this body lotion contains alcohol denat, but my skin doesn’t feel dry upon application at all. Skin feels hydrate and smooth instead.
Superbly Smoothing Argan Shampoo – S$41 / 250ml
I must say this Superbly Smoothing Argan Shampoo is probably one of the best shampoos I’ve tested so far! And it has became my most favorite shampoo that I can’t leave without now! I’ve finished up the complimentary bottle (old packaging) and has discarded it long ago. What shown above is a new bottle with a new packaging. Blended with Argan Oil, Safflower Oils and Cocoa Butter, this lovely shampoo helps to treat my frizzy and unruly hair effectively. It gives a nice creamy lather (with a jelly-like slippery consistency) that makes my hair feeling silky soft and smooth. It is free of sulphur, silicone and paraben! Love it!
Have you tried any of the products I’ve mentioned above? If yes, do you like it? Do share your thoughts, we will love to hear from you too!
