Two weeks ago, I have attended my second Vichy workshop at Once Upon A Milkshake at Tanjong Pagar to preview a new addition to Vichy Laboratoires Bi-White Reveal range – the Bi-White Reveal Deep Cell-Whitening Spot Intervention. Thanks to Pearlin for extending this invitation to me.
A great yummy booster – nutty peanut butter milkshake (smooth & creamy peanut butter with crunchy peanuts). What a great way to start the workshop.
Say Goodbye To Pigmentation!
Vichy has cordially invited Dr. Jonathan Lee, a Consultant Surgeon who is the founder for Aesthetics & Rejuvenative Medicine, to explain the causes, prevention and treatment solutions for pigmentation.
As there are so many choices of cosmetic products and treatments available today, I was delighted to learn from Dr Lee on what are the correct treatments and ingredients that will effectively treat pigmentation.
These are the common questions frequently asked in regards to pigmentation.
As pigmentation is one of the first signs of aging, women in their early 20s have already started to notice pigmentation on their skin. Based on Dr Lee, the various ways to treat pigmentation are :
- Topical Treatments
- Chemical Peels
- Intense Pulse Light (IPL)
- Pigment Lasers
- Skin Resurfacing
Topical Pigmentation Treatments
Studies have shown that the three main type of topical treatments to treat pigmentation are exfoliants, tyrosinase inhibitors and anti-oxidants. And some of the most common ingredients to either reduce or prevent pigmentation are Tretinoin (retinoids), kojic acid, hydroquinone, glycolic acid, arbutin and many many more……..
LHA (lipo hydroxy acid), an exfoliant that is derived from Salicylic acid, is claimed to treat pigmentation too. Vitamin C (ascorbic acid), a potent antioxidant and wrinkle reducer, not only helps to reduce skin damage caused by free radicals but also inhibits the formation of melanin.
Put A Stop To Your Spots!
Pigmentation, one of the most common signs of aging, tends to make a person looks older than their peers who doesn’t have pigmentation. Pigmentation can cause by repeated exposure to UV rays, stress, acne, heredity, hormone change, pregnancy and drugs.
Before treating pigmentation, it is important to identify on what kind of pigmentation you are suffering from. The different kind of spots are :
- Sun Spots
- Freckles or Ephelides
- Age Spots
- Acne Marks
- Post inflammatory hyperpigmentation
- Drug-induced hyperpigmentation
