Review – Sisleya Daily Line Reducer

Sisleya Daily Line Reducer, serum for all skin types, is claimed to provide an immediate sensation of comfort and freshness with both a smoothing and hydrating effect. Surface lines and wrinkles are plumped out and dehydration lines are softened. This skin is firmer, visibly smoother and glowing.

Product claims

With passing time, the fibroblast cells located at the base of deep wrinkles produce up to 3 times less collagen than the other fibroblasts. Thanks to an exclusive combination of 3 cutting edge active ingredients (extracts of Alkekengi’s Calyx, Soya and Padina Pavonica) Siselya Daily Line Reducer helps reconstruct the skin’s framework spectacularly.

My opinion

Well, Sisley has been successfully making the consumers believe that Sisleya Daily Line Reducer is ‘ONE’ cream that will able to help you look much much younger and that it is all you need to eliminate wrinkles and lines. And I believe many women have already fell into the trap.

There is no quick or immediate solution to eliminating lines and wrinkles. It doesn’t happen overnight. One cream itself will not able to do wonders. It will need correct treatments, skin care products with potent ingredients and proper daily regimen to help reduce them.

Hydrolyzed soy protein, its highly-acclaimed ingredient, is a antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent for skin. Although some studies have shown that it has a collagen-stimulating effect and that various compounds in soy influence skin thickness and elasticity but the research was carried out under carefully controlled conditions not related to the way soy protein is used in a cosmetic product.

Sisleya Daily Line Reducer contains tocopheryl acetate, vitis vinifera (grape) leaf extract and arginine which are potent antioxidants.

But is also contains some plant extract ingredients like potentilla errecta and lavender oil which are harmful to the skin.

Although skin is more supple, but there is no visible improvement on expression lines, wrinkles and crow’s feet. There is only a minimal improvement on skin hydration.

Conclusion : The result doesn’t substantiate its over-inflated claims. Sisleya Daily Line Reducer is definitely not the ‘miracle’ cream which you think can erase all those aging lines and wrinkles. Save the money, it is not worth it.

  The price is ridiculously expensive.

Will I buy it again? …… Unlikely!

Review – La Prairie Cellular Radiance Concentrate Pure Gold

Frankly, I never have good impression on La Prairie, maybe because I find their product marketing tactics aggressive, confusing and over-promised. I will reveal more when I do the next La Prairie product review. As I have bought one of their eye product before, they have since been faithfully sending me direct mailers on their promotional sets and new product launch.

During the launch of La Prairie Cellular Radiance Concentrate Pure Gold, I was given a generous size sample to try the product.

La Prairie Cellular Radiance Concentrate Pure Gold, a skin enrichment serum, is claimed to contain pure 24-carat gold that helps to brighten the skin and enhance its appearance.

Product claim

Illuminates and brightens skin immediately while reducing age spots. Rapidly plumps lines and wrinkles within one hour. Speeds exfoliation to reveal fresh, younger-looking skin. Enhances natural collagen and elastin production.

Its over-claimed ingredient, hyaluronic acid, is just a good water-binding agent that helps to seals moisture in the skin. Nothing like what they claimed as key to the wrinkle-reducing, skin-smoothening phenomenon of La Prairie Cellular Radiance Concentrate Pure Gold which fill in lines and wrinkles within an hour of application. This is way too exaggerative. Come on, YES, it is true that hyaluronic acid will entrap water to the skin and thereby reducing the look of wrinkles and lines. As I said, only ‘the look of’ and don’t expect this ingredient to eliminate the wrinkles and lines. Dream on, baby!

La Prairie Cellular Radiance Concentrate Pure Gold contains a tiny amount of another over-acclaimed ingredient, Pure Gold, which claimed to improve skin texture. But sad to say till now, there is no scientific benefit for skin at all.

But it do contains some beneficial antioxidants like panax ginseng root extract, equisetum arvense horsetail extract, ascrobyl glucoside, phyllanthus emblica fruit extract, pisum sativum and arginine. Other beneficial ingredients like lactic acid, glycolic acid and malic acid, are AHA that help to exfoliate dead skin cells by breaking down the substance in skin that holds skin cells together.

I don’t see there is any improvement on the skin other than the feel-good texture and skin that feels smooth after application. There’s no benefit ingredient to help what most of us concern like removing wrinkles, lines or reverse signs of aging. The claims are not realistic and it is not worth the money.

La Prairie Cellular Radiance Concentrate Pure Gold is definitely a feel-good product than a look-good product.

Will I buy it? …… Don’t think so!

Review – Sisley Hydra-Global Intense Anti-Aging Hydration

Sisley Hydra-Global Intense Anti-Aging Hydration, is after all a basic moisturizer with no anti-aging benefits as it claimed to be.

I have tried and tested this product out of curiosity which claims to provide great hydrating benefits.

The ‘interesting‘ part about this product is that it is NOT a serum neither is a skin-stimulator or antioxidant but yet it is said can be used either before your favourite moisturizer or use it alone as a moisturizer. After using numerous Sisley skin-care products, I realized even their beauty counter advisors are not able to categorize certain products at times and this Hydra-Global is one of them. Come on, make up your mind!

Product claims

Hydra-Global is the solution to the problem of dehydration which can be caused by age, the sun and other environmental aggressions eg: wind and air-conditioning.

Ingredient claims (over-inflated?)

  • Extract of padina pavonica – increase the skin’s capacity to preserve water.
  • Extract of wild pansy – circulation of water within the skin will be re-activated and increased.
  • Malachite extract (with the combination of plant actives) – which has an excellent anti-oxidant result, your skin will appear ‘plumped up’ and regain youthful suppleness and luminosity.
  • Extract of stevia leaf – a powerful ‘humectant’ will increase the skin’s function to retain water.
  • Extract of chestnut – acting as a natural exfoliant will optimize the skin’s surface condition.

Sisley Hydra-Global Intense Anti-Aging Hydration contains some antioxidant ingredients which are tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E) and yeast extract. Other beneficial ingredients are panthenol, alcohol form of vitamin B, can be effective for hydration and argireline which claims to have a muscle-relaxing effect similar to Botox injections.

But it also contains lavandula angustifolia (lavendar) oil and linalool, which can cause irritation to skin.

Personal point of views

Although this product is claimed to have hydrating abilities, it doesn’t actually provide much hydrating benefits and is essentially what any moisturizer can do.

Lightweight and non-oily. Easily absorbed into the skin.

Skin is slightly moisturized and tone.

Will I buy it again? …… I don’t think so!

Review – L’oreal Revitalift Anti-Wrinkle + Firming Cream SPF 18

L’oreal Revitalift Anti-Wrinkle + Firming Cream SPF 18 is the first L’oreal product I have tested. Quite ordinary, I would say. There isn’t much benefits to support the ‘anti-wrinkle’ + firming’ claims.

L’oreal Revitalift Anti-Wrinkle + Firming Cream SPF 18 contains a few skin-irritant ingredients like fragrance and linalool that may irritate skin. It also contains palmitic acid, a detergent cleansing agent that also creates foam and can be drying.

To support its SPF 18, it contains ingredient like titanium dioxide, as it is said to protect skin from UVA and UVB radiation and is considered to have no risk of skin irritation.

The key ingredient retinyl palmitate, a form of vitamin A, is a combination of retinol and palmitic acid. Research has shown that it can be effective as an antioxidant and skin-cell regulator. But I guess, this is the only ingredient in the product, that may help to firm up and prevent wrinkles, that is beneficial to the skin. But don’t expect the skin will improve much as the ingredient percentage may not be sufficient to see the result.

Very lightweight, non-oily. After application, my skin doesn’t feel oily even after few hours later.

No visible improvement on wrinkle and firming.

Will I buy it again? …… Never!

Review – Sisley All Day All Year

Sisley All Day All Year, Essential Day Care, is one product I have trusted and regretted so much on using it. Before I start trashing out all the untruth and damage it has caused, let me provide you the product profile on this ‘unique’ day cream.

Product claim

Sisley All Day All Year, the only product available using a patented method of encapsulating UVA &UVB suncare. Unlike other sunscreens, irrespective of the SPF factor, are only effective for 2 hours before they need to be reapplied, All Day All Year, as claimed, is capable of blocking 90% of UVA and UVB rays for 8 continuous hours.

Skin will therefore be protected from environment aggressors, stress, harmful UVA and UVB rays which are the number one cause for aging. Skin will be hydrated, soft and velvety. Skin will regain a smooth and supple appearance and your complexion is more radiant.

I was in great shock when I realized there is hardly any UV protection and is not recommended for use even one day out of the year. Without sunscreen, this emollient moisturizer for dry skin is a poor choice for daytime, the cost is outrageous, and it contains irritating oils of juniper, sage, and thyme. <Sources : Paula Begoun – Don’t go to the cosmetics counter without me>

Lightweight and non-oily, is suitable for all skin types.

Due to inadequate sun protection, new dark spots have appeared and old spots has becoming more visible.

Will I buy it again? …… Not again!

Review – PCA Skin ExLinea Peptide Smoothing Serum

PCA Skin ExLinea Peptide Smoothing Serum is the first peptide product I have tested and I have to say it really is one of best product I have used so far.

It is a serum packed with powerful potent ingredients that smooth, hydrate and nurture aging skin that diminish the appearance of existing wrinkles and fighting future damage.

It is formulated with Argireline, a proven peptide that reduces the depth of existing lines and prevents future wrinkling due to over-stimulation of facial muscles similar to Botox injections.

Hyaluronic acid and plant polysaccharides increase skin moisture, providing a plumper, firmer and youthful complexion.

Rosa Rubiginosa Seed Oil, a good emollient oil, provides high concentrations of the essential fatty acids that are vital for healthy skin.

PCA Skin ExLinea Peptide Smoothing Serum also contains a blend of antioxidants and advanced actives fight free radicals and provide the skin with an immediate tightening and lifting effect.

  • Witch hazel – has potent antioxidant properties
  • Ascorbic acid – form of a vitamin C that has antioxidant properties.
  • Epigallocatechin gallate – a potent antioxidant, posses anti-inflammatory and anticarcinogenic properties. It can prevent collagen breakdown and reduce UV damage to skin.
  • Tocotrienols and tocopherol – potent forms of vitamin E that are considered stable and powerful antioxidants. They are excellent in protecting skin from the adverse effects of oxidative stress including sun damage.

In my opinion

Though it contains ingredients like melissa officinalis leaf oil and santalum album oil, that may irritate skin but I guess it is worth to give this product a try.

Lightweight and watery. It can be applied on the eye area.

Wrinkles and lines around my eye areas and forehead have significantly reduced.

Will I buy it again? …… Maybe!
