Buy SkinCeuticals Products Only From Authorised Retailers

Have you ever heard of SkinCeuticals?

Founded in Dallas, Texas in 1997, SkinCeuticals is a brand that develops an advanced line of skincare products backed by science and is responsible for bringing cosmeceuticals to the American market. As leaders in antioxidant, sun protection, and corrective technologies, it is also a brand used following cosmetic procedures and recommended by dermatologists in America and worldwide.

Being a cosmeceutical brand, SkinCeuticals is distributed only by a selective group of authorised dermatologists, plastic surgeons, medical spas, pharmacies and qualified premium skincare professionals worldwide as well as in Singapore. Derma Center (Westage Mall), Clifford Aesthetics and Freia Medical Aesthetics are among some of the local authorised retailers here in Singapore where you can get authentic SkinCeuticals products.

The Risks of Buying from Unauthorised Retailers

Diversion is when products are sold in unauthorised places, which means that the products being sold have not been purchased directly from SkinCeuticals. All genuine SkinCeuticals products are sold exclusively through authorised SkinCeuticals skincare professional partners or through their carefully selected and authorised retailers. SkinCeuticals products that you find outside of these places are considered to be “diverted.”

[Sharing] L’oreal Singapore Active Cosmetics Opened Its 1st Multi-Brand Boutique, Derma Center, in SEA

Late last year in 2013, L’oreal Singapore Active Cosmetics opened its first multi-brand boutique in Westgate Mall, where all three brands under the Active Cosmetics portfolio – Vichy, La Roche-Posay and SkinCeuticals are available.

This is the first Derma Center in Southeast Asia which will provide professional advice and personalized diagnosis for face and hair. Recommended by dermatologists and health professionals worldwide, the Derma Center will be a new shopping place for consumers with each and every skin type, including the most sensitive, proposing a unique experience for derma-skincare.

At the heart of the derma-skincare uniqueness is the expert diagnosis of skin health specialists. The Derma Center houses two advanced diagnosis tools, which together with professional Derma Advisors, will provide accurate personalized advice and product recommendations that ensure the highest satisfaction in terms of performance and tolerance.

The hand-held Derm Analyzer shows 3D visualizations for skin in areas of hydration, elasticity, pores, sebum, porphyrine (sebum under skin), wrinkles and melanin, and for hair in areas of hair loss, density and thickness. For visible and even underlying skin damage, consumers can refer to the SkinCeuticals Precision LED, which utilizes the power of photochemistry for full-face skin diagnosis with clearer visibility of skin concerns including pigmentation, texture, hydration and sebum production.

SkinCeuticals Launches Advanced Pigment Corrector

skinceuticals advanced pigment corrector

skinceuticals advanced pigment corrector

Recently, I was invited to attend the SkinCeuticals media event, held at The American Club, to preview its latest Advanced Pigment Corrector.

Research has shown that over half of females between 35 and 59 cited discoloration and uneven skin tone as a more significant skin concern than loss of firmness. I couldn’t agree more! I’ve actually started noticing my first signs of aging, brown spots on my right cheekbone area and uneven skin tone, in my mid 30s. And I wasn’t even concerned about other signs of aging like loss of firmness and enlarged pores during that time at all!

Known for its advanced topical antioxidant and skincare products, SkinCeuticals launches an innovative product -  Advanced Pigment Corrector – the first product that is made entirely of natural ingredients to help improve skin luminosity for renewed radiance. In a 12-week clinical study, it is proven to be as effective as the combination of 4% Hydronquinone (4% HQ) and 0.25% Tretinoin (Retin-A) cream, which is prescribed by doctors to visibly reduce dark spots. However, both Hydroquinone (a controversial skin-care ingredient for topical use) and Tretinoin are known to cause skin irritation, dryness and redness. Not everyone can take these 2 ingredients, unfortunately I’m one of them. :-(

Over the past years, I have been trying in vain to eliminate the stubborn dark spots on my right cheekbone area. Apart from trying various pigment reduction skincare products, I even treated the spots with non-invasive treatments but the spots recurred again after months later. I was trying to figure out the cause on the recurrence and I’m glad to be able to find the answer (in bold below) from the SkinCeuticals press kit :

“Melanin is the pigment that gives skin color and is produced as a proactive response to epidermal insults. Any skin type may develop hyper pigmentation due to overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, hormonal fluctuations, or inflammation. Excess melanin accumulates with age, leading to stubborn discolorations and dark spots. Extending below the epidermal layer, the discoloration can become deeply rooted, making the skin susceptible to recurrence, even after treatment.

Protect Your Skin From Premature Aging With Skinceuticals Skincare

Have you heard of this skincare brand named SkinCeuticals? Well, if you are always on the lookout for well-formulated antioxidant serums, you probably will be familiar with SkinCeuticals.

SkinCeuticals is a professional skincare brand that is only available at selected spa, aesthetics and hospitals. It has a well-deserved reputation for producing serious-minded, research-driven products such as their well-formulated antioxidant treatments with key ingredients including L-ascorbic Acid, a-Tocopherol, Ferulic Acid and Phloretin. SkinCeuticals is one of the first companies to partner with physicians to offer skincare products in their offices.

SkinCeuticals is founded by Dr. Sheldon Pinnell in 1994. Founding scientist Dr. Sheldon Pinnell is the Chief of Dermatology of Duke University who has 38 years of skin cancer and skin disease research.

A couple of weeks ago, I was delighted to have a very private get-together session with the Product Manager of SkinCeuticals to preview a range of SkinCeuticals products and to learn some useful beauty tips to prevent premature aging. I’m always very interested in SkinCeuticals as it offers some of the best L-ascorbic acid and retinol products.

skinceuticals phloretin CF gel

The first two products I was being introduced are Phloretin CF Gel and Phloretin CF. Both serums have the same formulation but only in different consistency.

skinceuticals phloretin CF

Phloretin CF (priced at S$268), a broad-action antioxidant treatment, is formulated with 2% Phloretin, 10% L-ascorbic acid and 0.5% Ferulic acid.

Benefits :

  • Prevents premature signs of aging
  • Corrects existing photodamage, particularly age spots and laxity

SkinCeuticals Daily Moisture Lightweight Pore-Minimizing Moisturizer is one of the great feel-good moisturizer I’ve tested so far. In fact, I will classify it as a no-frill lightweight moisturizer with above average result.

SkinCeuticals Daily Moisture Lightweight Pore-Minimizing Moisturizer, ideal for normal or oily skin, is claimed to hydrate, nourish and reduce the appearance of pore size with an exclusive combination of natural extracts. High levels of pure vitamin E heal and protect while Brazilian sea algae deliver proteins, amino acids and essential minerials to the skin.

Review – Can SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Masque Quench My Thirsty Skin?

Keeping my skin well hydrated and lubricated is an essential regimen that I will never miss. To me, skin hydrating is important as it will help to replenish the natural moisture factors in the upper layers of my skin.

SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Masque is yet another extremely ordinary and boring mask that I have tested. Nothing special about this mask other than the claims it have made.

Product profile

SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Masque, inspired by the award-winning Hydrating B5 Gel, this highly concentrated masque infuses dehydrated and stressed skin with optimal amounts of hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 to replenish depleted moisture levels. Enhanced with a unique complex containing constituents of the skin’s natural moisturizing factor (NMF), this weekly hydration treatment re-establishes the water balance critical for maintaining skin metabolic functions at optimal levels. Hydrating B5 Masque plumps moisture-deprived skin to restore a healthy, youthful appearance.

Overall SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Masque basically contains mainly water, glycerin and pH-adjusting agents. Pretty simple and uninteresting ingredients.

A quick look…. Sodium Hyaluronate and Sodium PCA are considered good water-binding agents that are often used in skin-care products. Calcium Pantothenate, also known as vitamin B5, is effective for hydration and wound healing.

Although SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Masque, for all skin types, is said to contain double the concentration of Sodium Hyaluronate available in SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel but there is no scientific prove that it will provide greater hydration than the latter.

After leaving the mask for about 15 minutes, this highly concentrated formula not a bit replenishes moisture to my dehydrated and stressed skin. It faintly allows the complexion to regain a radiant tone and smooth, supple texture. It barely helps to plump and illuminate the complexion, insignificantly resulting in a more youthful appearance.

Although this weekly hydration treatment is said to re-establish the water balance critical for maintaining healthy skin metabolic function but I probably will not bother to invest my time and money on this product.

Will I buy this product? Very unlikely

Review – SkinCeuticals Serum 10 AOX+

I have managed to obtain SkinCeuticals Serum 10 AOX+ sample in a generous size, which actually last me for more than a month.

Product claims

Formulated with 10% L-ascorbic acid, this antioxidant treatment helps protect against damaging UVA/UVB rays, prevent premature signs of aging and stimulate collagen production. Serum 10 is lightweight, fast-absorbing and optimal for sensitive and acneic skin.

My experiment with the product

Before trying SkinCeuticals Serum 10 AOX+, I was a bit skeptical whether my skin will get allergy with 10% L-ascorbic acid. Although scientifically, L-ascorbic acid is claimed as a potent form of vitamin C but it is known to be very unstable. Having a sensitive skin, I have to be extremely cautious on any acidic ingredient. The highest I have tried so far is 5% and it was fine on my skin. In fact, many studies have shown that 10% is the correct and minimal concentration of vitamin C, to see proven results.

I have encountered some minor temporarily irritation with tingling sensation that last about 10 minutes or so during my first few rounds of applications. In fact, some dermatologists believe that these are the signs that the product is working. But occasionally, I do encounter some irritation which I get itchy on some small spots on the skin. I reckon it is due to my sensitive skin.

Different strengths to suit your need

SkinCeuticals Serum 10 AOX+, ideal for sensitive skin types or acne conditions, combines 10% L-ascorbic acid with ferulic acid to provide antioxidant and anti-aging benefits.

So if you want to try something stronger, you may consider SkinCeuticals Serum 15 AOX+(15% L-ascorbic acid) and Serum 20 AOX+(20% L-ascorbic acid), both combine with ferulic acid.

Ingredients & Benefits

L-ascorbic acid, also known as vitamin C, is a powerful antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals, defends against environmental damage and helps prevent premature signs of aging. It reduces the appearance of the lines and wrinkles, provides photo-protection and stimulates collagen synthesis.

SkinCeuticals has discovered a way to get vitamin C into the skin when applying it on the surface is to combine it with ferulic acid. Ferulic acid, occurs naturally in plants and is a source of ultra-violet (UV) protection, increases the stability of vitamin C.

After a month of usage : SkinCeuticals Serum 10 AOX+ has helped to improve my skin texture and skin elasticity. Skin is firmer and healthier. I have also noticed the fine lines on the forehead have reduced significantly.

But there is no visible improvement on the pigmentation.

Will I buy it? …… Most likely!
