My 10 Most Must-Have Beauty Products At The Moment!

After much persuasion from some lovely readers, yes yes yes I heard you <grin>, I decided to unveil my “10 Most Must-Have Beauty Products At The Moment!” This is something I wanted to share with my readers for the longest time too! ;-)

Frankly, to pick 10 beauty products from the loads of beauty products I’m currently using seems pretty easy for me. These 10 beauty products are not only my most favorites but also my most essential beauty products that I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT AT THE MOMENT!

Nothing to be surprised about, there isn’t any makeup product among the 10. The makeup trends are changing rapidly and hence it’s kind of difficult to select a must-have makeup product. But how about essential makeup product such as foundation? Well actually, foundation is something I can live without as I hardly use it anyway unless I have an event to attend on the very day. Usually I will just lightly dust a thin amount of loose powder on my face and complete the look with a tinge of creamy blusher on the cheek areas and lip gloss…. and I’m ready to go!

But if you wanna me to name 1 must-have makeup product at the moment, it will be Clarins Colour Quench Lip Balm in 04 Raspberry Smoothie! :-)

Unveil My BEAUTY SECRETS For Great-Looking Skin

People who have seen and know me in person will frequently compliment my complexion and ask for my beauty tips on how I achieve it. Yeah you are right in a way, part of my good-looking skin is due to heredity. And the rest are due to ‘meticulous’ care and healthy lifestyle habits.

After constant persuasion from some readers, I decided to unveil the beauty secrets on how I upkeep my healthy looking skin. Frankly, I was rather reluctant to share my beauty secrets to everyone although I know very well I will have to do it now or later in a matter of time. You can say I’m boastful or selfish if you like. Hahahahaha!!!

Review – Can Sisley Eye Contour Mask Refresh My Tired-Looking Eyes?

Due to aging, I have noticed there are more fine lines around my eye areas. And also crow’s feet begins to appear and dark eye circles seem to get even darker.

Therefore, I’ve been consistently and painstakingly finding ways to eliminate or reverse the signs of eye aging as much as possible.

Treatment for eye contour is in fact one of the most difficult area to remedy. It is mainly due to the epidermis on the eye contour is fine, fragile and thinner than on the rest of the face. And also subject to constant movements, making it particularly delicate and sensitive.

Generally, it is not easy to find a good eye mask in the market. Before I bought Sisley Contour Mask, I will normally apply the face hydrating mask onto my face and also on the eye area (although most of the face masks may not be suitable to apply around the eyes).

In fact, Sisley is one brand I used to trust very much, so whenever there is a new product launch, I will usually rush down and grab it. And Sisley Contour Mask is one of them.

Product profile

Within 10 minutes it helps re-hydrate the skin and reduce all signs of fatigue, thanks to active ingredients that:

  • locally improve microcirculation
  • help reinforce skin’s natural defenses
  • smoothe and optimize radiance on this very fine and fragile area

Sisley Contour Mask contains numerous antioxidant ingredients which help to revitalize the skin.

  • Ginkgo biloba is a potent antioxidant that helps improve blood flow.
  • Vitamin E acetate, malachite extract and linden extract are considered as potent antioxidants that can protect against free radicals.

As usual, Sisley has tried very hard to over-inflate some of the ingredient claims and below are some examples :

  • Sisley has claimed that arnica extract helps boost surface micro-circulation but sad to say there’s no scientific benefit to the skin and worst it is a skin irritant.
  • Horse chestnut extract is said to have a decongesting and softening action but it only have anti-inflammatory properties for skin.
  • Chorella Extract, also known as algae, is claimed to have effects on wrinkling and revitalizes the skin but the claims are unsubstantiated.

For hydrating benefits, Sisley Contour Mask contains Pro-Vitamin B5 and glycerin that help maintain hydration and skin smoothness.

How to use

Use morning or night before applying a cream. Apply a thick layer of product over the eyelids and the eye contour and leave on for 10 minutes. Remove the excess without rinsing off.

Whenever I have tired-looking eyes, Sisley Contour Mask will come as a ‘occasional’ temporary rescue. This transparent gel mask faintly helps refresh, hydrate and rejuvenate the eye contour. Why I emphasis the word ‘occasional’ because sometimes I do see some improvements but sometimes I don’t, hence the results are no consistent.

If there is a result, Sisley Contour Mask is able to re-hydrate skin or smooth away visible signs of fatigue. The appearance of fine lines, puffiness and dark circles are less visible. But all these results are only TEMPORARY and as for crow’s feet no result though!

Will I buy it again? I doubt so!

Review – No Radiance From Sisley Radiant Glow Express Mask

Sisley Radiant Glow Express Mask, with red clay, is yet another disappointed Sisley product I have tested so far. It is claimed to provide deep cleansing and instantly eliminates impurities and dullness. Help smooth and soften your complexion. Promote a matte, luminous and healthy skin.

Product claims

A more even, shine-free, luminous complexion and spectacular radiance, all in just 5 minutes. The extraordinary absorption capacity of a special blend of Clays, combined with plant extracts (Licorice, Matricaria and Rose hips) and essential oils, gives this mask gentle deep-cleansing benefits to eliminate the impurities which dull the complexion.

Sisley Radiant Glow Express Mask contains mainly water, wax, emollient, clay and thickeners. It contains rosa canina fruit extract which is good emollient that has antioxidant properties.

But it contains chlorhexidine (a topical antiseptic), rosemary extract and linalool which can cause irritation.

After 5 minutes with Sisley Radiant Glow Express Mask - The first thing I’ve noticed is my skin feels matte, dull and dehydrated. I guess it is probably due to the clay potion and I reckon it may not be suitable for dry skin type. I’m just wondering how would Sisley creates a product with main focus is to create radiance skin and yet result with a matte and dry looking finish. I just don’t get it.

The biggest disappointment with Sisley Radiant Glow Express Mask is that it doesn’t help to eliminates impurities, dullness or anything to achieve a spectacular radiance (on what it has claimed). There is no different between before and after the mask application.

Sisley Radiant Glow Express Mask, for all skin types, is just another ordinary mask with an extravagant price tag. So my advise is don’t bother to spend your money on a product which basically contains water, wax, emollient, clay, thickeners, and with not even one ingredient that can make your skin radiance.

For me if I want to achieve a radiance skin, I will probably go for a non-invasive treatment like microdermabrasion, IPL or laser treatment. These treatments have proven to show marvelous results at least.

Will I buy it? Absolutely a NO-NO!

Review – I Use Sisley Phyto-Blanc Clearing Essence With Vitamin C To Brighten Up My Skin

Sisley Phyto-Blanc Clearing Essence With Vitamin C is the first Sisley product I have tested and also one of my favourite product that I’m still consistently using.

Although, there are many highly concentrated form of vitamin C serums available in the market but to source for a good one is not that easy after all when topical preparations of vitamin C is greatly important.

The truly good vitamin C serum must comprise of :

  • The correct percentage and type of vitamin C used and the pH of the product.
  • Highly concentrated, pure and stable vitamin C product that people can easily use at home.

Vitamin C and its stability

Vitamin C is actually quite delicate and it is water soluble, but when mixed with water and exposed to oxygen it isn’t able to maintain its antioxidant activity. In addition, vitamin C rapidly disintegrates when exposed to light.

Although, there are many cosmetic companies have painstaking researched and developed a highly concentrated form of vitamin C in a water-free lotion or cream. But Sisley has successfully created a ‘mix and use’ products that involve mixing vitamin C into a base and applying it immediately while the vitamn C is still active and Sisley Phyto-Blanc Clearing Essence With Vitamin C is the one. I think this way of topical preparations of vitamin C is quite effective, especially for higher concentrations of vitamin C. The irritation potential of such high concentrations of vitamin C is eliminated by including skin soothers and an emollient in the formula.

Sisley Phyto-Blanc Clearing Essence With Vitamin C

Like all other products from the Sisley line, Phyto-Blanc Clearing Essence is the result of Sisley’s world-renowned scientific and technological expertise. Phyto-Blanc Clearing Essence contains maximum concentration of ingredients, well known for their clearing effects. The formula is based on Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid), works to lighten the complexion for a visibly improved radiant complexion. Extracts of white mulberry and scutellaria, both known for their extremely effective clearing properties, are combined with extracts of Licorice which help soothe and soften skin. Phyto-Blanc Clearing Essence works very evenly and uniformly on the skin to clarify without dehydrating the skin.

Product claims

Bring luminosity and a unique glow to dull skin. After approximately 28 days, the skin begins to lighten significantly. Each vial contains applications for 7 days.

Method of use

Remove the protective film and twist the upper part (the cap) to break the seal. Press firmly on the cap to pierce the reservoir and release the vitamin C. Shake well for 20 seconds to mix the powder and gel, then tap on the cap to empty out the mixture. Remove the cap. Replace with the dropper. Once the vial is opened, start using it the same day and use for a maximum of 7 consecutive days. Keep in a cool place, away from light.

One application every night. Each vial contains the exact amount needed for 7 applications – one week’s supply. Each box of 8 vials represents 2 months of treatment.

It is designed to keep the vitamin C pure and stable.

Sisley Phyto-Blanc Clearing Essence With Vitamin C contains 5% of ascorbic acid which is a good form of vitamin C that has antioxidant properties.

Morus alba root extract, as known as mulberry extract, some studies have shown that it can help to prevent melanin production. Scutellaria baicalensis root extract, a herbal extract, has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties for skin.

Firstly, I will have to give a thumb up on the packaging for Sisley Phyto-Blanc Clearing Essence With Vitamin C. Well done Sisley! It has effectively helped to maintain the high concentrated vitamin C in a stable and pure form. It is so stable even my sensitive skin doesn’t get irritated at all.

Another plus plus point is that Sisley Phyto-Blanc Clearing Essence With Vitamin C contains enough anti-inflammatory agents which can reduce and control inflammation, since inflammation creates free radicals.

As each box of 8 vials represents 2 months of treatment, I will make it a point to use 3 boxes per year.

The result is brilliant. Sisley Phyto-Blanc Clearing Essence With Vitamin C has effectively brightened up my skin and skin becomes more radiant then before. It has also softened the fine lines and wrinkles significantly. It has also helped to boost up the collagen production and leaves a smooth, clear and luminous complexion.

Although it is expensive, but I believe it’s definitely worth it. Nevertheless, I vote Sisley Phyto-Blanc Clearing Essence With Vitamin C as my favourite product of all time, a fantastic product indeed!

  Love it so much!

Will I buy it again? Definitely YES YES YES!!!

Review – I Use Sisley Botanical Facial Mask With Tropical Resins For My Acne

Sisley Botanical Facial Mask With Tropical Resins, created specially for combination to oily skin, is one product I will never buy on my own. Not because the product is no good but it’s just that I hardly have a chance to use it anyway.

At the moment, I’ve been using the 15ml size sample which I obtained from one of the bundle set promotion a while ago. As I’m having a normal to dry skin, this mask is definitely not ideal to apply on the whole face. Hence, the 15ml sample can actually last me for a long long time.

Product claims

A purifying, clarifying mask which visibly improves the appearance of oily and problem skin. Incorporating the purifying, clarifying and astringent properties of Myrrh, Incense and Benzoin, Facial Mask with Topical Resins addresses the problems of oily, problem skin.

In order to tackle oily skin, Sisley Botanical Facial Mask With Tropical Resins contains clay ingredients with absorbent properties like kaolin and bentonite. It also contains many skin irritants ingredients which include styrax benzoin resin extract, boswellia carterii extract, commiphora myrrha extract, eugenol, amyl cinnamal, linalool and fragrance. In fact, these skin irritants may actually worsen the skin even for oily skin too.

Sisley Botanical Facial Mask With Tropical Resins is my SAVIOUR whenever I have acne.

To treat the acne, all I need is to apply a small amount of the mask (approx. size of a rice grain) to the specified spot and making sure to cover up the surrounding of the acne as well. Usually I will prefer to do it at night and leave it on till the next morning. Depending on the condition of the acne, I may required to use it again on the following day for more stubborn one.

Sisley Botanical Facial Mask With Tropical Resins helps to dry up the treated skin effectively and allow the dried dead skin to peel off naturally by itself.

Although Sisley Botanical Facial Mask With Tropical Resins contains many skin irritant ingredients that can trigger skin, but so far I have not suffer any reaction from it. (maybe due to the tiny amount I’ve used haha!!)

Side note

Sisley Botanical Facial Mask With Tropical Resins can be extremely drying for most skin type even for oily skin too. Refrain from using on whole face or even daily. Instead, use it only on the targeted areas like acne spots and oily nose.

Will I buy it? …… Unlikely!

Review – Sisleya Daily Line Reducer

Sisleya Daily Line Reducer, serum for all skin types, is claimed to provide an immediate sensation of comfort and freshness with both a smoothing and hydrating effect. Surface lines and wrinkles are plumped out and dehydration lines are softened. This skin is firmer, visibly smoother and glowing.

Product claims

With passing time, the fibroblast cells located at the base of deep wrinkles produce up to 3 times less collagen than the other fibroblasts. Thanks to an exclusive combination of 3 cutting edge active ingredients (extracts of Alkekengi’s Calyx, Soya and Padina Pavonica) Siselya Daily Line Reducer helps reconstruct the skin’s framework spectacularly.

My opinion

Well, Sisley has been successfully making the consumers believe that Sisleya Daily Line Reducer is ‘ONE’ cream that will able to help you look much much younger and that it is all you need to eliminate wrinkles and lines. And I believe many women have already fell into the trap.

There is no quick or immediate solution to eliminating lines and wrinkles. It doesn’t happen overnight. One cream itself will not able to do wonders. It will need correct treatments, skin care products with potent ingredients and proper daily regimen to help reduce them.

Hydrolyzed soy protein, its highly-acclaimed ingredient, is a antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent for skin. Although some studies have shown that it has a collagen-stimulating effect and that various compounds in soy influence skin thickness and elasticity but the research was carried out under carefully controlled conditions not related to the way soy protein is used in a cosmetic product.

Sisleya Daily Line Reducer contains tocopheryl acetate, vitis vinifera (grape) leaf extract and arginine which are potent antioxidants.

But is also contains some plant extract ingredients like potentilla errecta and lavender oil which are harmful to the skin.

Although skin is more supple, but there is no visible improvement on expression lines, wrinkles and crow’s feet. There is only a minimal improvement on skin hydration.

Conclusion : The result doesn’t substantiate its over-inflated claims. Sisleya Daily Line Reducer is definitely not the ‘miracle’ cream which you think can erase all those aging lines and wrinkles. Save the money, it is not worth it.

  The price is ridiculously expensive.

Will I buy it again? …… Unlikely!
