the body shop nutriganics drops of youth

A while ago, I’ve received a bottle of The Body Shop Nutriganics Drops Of Youth, an anti-aging concentrate that is designed to enhance surface skin condition, leaving it looking smoother, fresher and healthier.

It is claimed that 98% of the ingredients used in Drop Of Youth are of natural origin with high organic levels, meeting the strict independent standards set by the world’s largest certifying body of natural and organic cosmetics.

This star product is also said to power by plant stem cells from criste marine which stimulate your natural skin cell renewal process.

Contains NO parabens and silicones, Drops Of Youth acts as a supplementary first step in your daily beauty regimen, before applying your usual serum or moisturizer.

Launched just last year, it is claimed that 8 in 10 Asian women now use Drops of Youth everyday and one bottle is sold every minute.

Biotherm PURE-FECT SKIN – Anti-Shine, Anti-Pore & Anti-Imperfection Skincare

.

Recently, I was invited to attend a Biotherm event to preview their latest anti-imperfection skin care range – PURE-FECT SKIN.

It comprises of 4 products – Purefect Purifying & Anti-Bacterial Foaming Gel, Purefect Matifying & Anti-Bacterial Toner, Purefect Anti-Imperfection Anti-Shine Pure Skin Gel and Purefect Targeted Anti-Irregularity Solution.

It was held at the newly opened Biotherm boutique at #B1-56 Ngee Ann City @ Orchard Road.

It is actually the first Biotherm boutique in Singapore.

.

PURE-FECT SKIN

Anti-Shine, Anti-Pore & Anti-Imperfection

PURE-FECT SKIN, launched in May 2012, is the perfect skin care range for anti-shine, anti-pore and anti-imperfection.

It is a popular myth that skin imperfections such as oily skin, enlarged pores and blemishes are only exclusively for teenagers. But recent study has shown that while hormones are the main culprit of adolescent breakouts, the skin irritations suffered in adulthood, sometimes up to the age of 40.

Skin imperfections are often known to be triggered by excessive sebum production but new scientific studies have shown that water and bacteria are also the causes for the skin imperfections too. The excess sebum, together with water from humidity in the air or sweat secretion, forms a layer on the skin that can favor one particular bacterium known as proliferates p.acnes, which is the main cause of skin imperfections.

Achieve A Firmer Body Contour With Biotherm NEW Firm Corrector Tensor Recompacting Body Concentrate [Giveaway] 5 Deluxe Size To Be Given Away!

.

End of March 2012, I was invited to preview a new body product by BiothermFirm Corrector Tensor Recompacting Body Concentrate.

It was held at a temporary Biotherm Atrium Body Corner @ VivoCity.

Prior to the introduction of the new product, we (bloggers) were given a short tour around the Biotherm Atrium Body Corner.

During the tour, we were re-introduced to some of Biotherm skincare products such as the popular Biotherm Aquasource range.

Biotherm believes that hydration plays an important role in keeping skin looking healthy and young. Dehydrated skin (left insert photo) will appear more wrinkled, dull-looking, rough and less ‘plump’.

Men are not forgotten too! There are a few ranges of Biotherm Homme skincare products specially for the men too. I actually like the scent of men skincare products.

Here’s a cozy area for the bloggers to gather around.

These 3 body products are specially designed to treat on targeted areas such as loss of firmness on stomach-waist area and reduction of stretchmarks.

.

Introducing Biotherm NEW Firm Corrector Tensor Recompacting Body Concentrate

Available from April 2012 – S$82 / 200ml

I believe most of you (like me) will probably pay most attention to our face and neglect our body. If you are NOT one of us, well done! You should have been taking good care of your body and maintain it well. Keep it up with the good effort!

Do you know as we age, our skin loses around 1% of its collagen every year? So from 20 to 70 years, our skin actually lose up to 50% of its collagen, the major component of firmness.

Collagen is one of the main components of the skin extracellular matrix. As collagen quantities decline over time, this matrix gradually deconstructs, the skin eventually loses its density, suppleness and firmness, becoming progressively slacker, with a creased or sometimes crumpled appearance.

My 10 Most Must-Have Beauty Products At The Moment!

.

After much persuasion from some lovely readers, yes yes yes I heard you <grin>, I decided to unveil my “10 Most Must-Have Beauty Products At The Moment!” This is something I wanted to share with my readers for the longest time too! ;-)

Frankly, to pick 10 beauty products from the loads of beauty products I’m currently using seems pretty easy for me. These 10 beauty products are not only my most favorites but also my most essential beauty products that I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT AT THE MOMENT!

Nothing to be surprised about, there isn’t any makeup product among the 10. The makeup trends are changing rapidly and hence it’s kind of difficult to select a must-have makeup product. But how about essential makeup product such as foundation? Well actually, foundation is something I can live without as I hardly use it anyway unless I have an event to attend on the very day. Usually I will just lightly dust a thin amount of loose powder on my face and complete the look with a tinge of creamy blusher on the cheek areas and lip gloss…. and I’m ready to go!

But if you wanna me to name 1 must-have makeup product at the moment, it will be Clarins Colour Quench Lip Balm in 04 Raspberry Smoothie! :-)

NEW Biotherm Skin-Ergetic Serum – A Solution To Fatigue Skin

.

For many, occasionally having physical or mental fatigue which include weariness, tiredness, exhaustion, lethargy, lack of energy in body and mind is a commonplace. But have you heard of fatigue skin?

What is fatigue skin? Fatigue or tired skin is the effects of physical and mental fatigue. It is caused by unhealthy lifestyle habits and external factors such as lack of sleep, improper diet, smoking, pollution, sun exposure and stress. Your complexion appears dull, rough, uneven, lack of radiance and enlarged pores.

Even one night’s of sufficient sleep is not enough to recover the skin condition. As there is no specific skincare solutions to meet women new needs, Biotherm has therefore developed a skincare solution to help target the visible signs of tired skin.

.

Last week, I was privileged to attend my first Biotherm event to preview its latest innovative serum – Biotherm Skin-Ergetic Serum.

Each blogger was presented with a small lovely recycled bag that contains a full size Biotherm Skin-Ergetic Serum, a foil packaging that contains activation capsule and a bottle of candies.

.

Biotherm Skin-Ergetic Serum – S$99.00 / 50ml

Biotherm Skin-Ergetic Serum, a paraben-free serum, is claimed to be the ultra-effective solution for erasing the visible signs of tired skin. It will be launched on 26th August 2011 and it will be available at all Biotherm counters in leading department stores and Sephora.

L’Oreal Research (Biotherm is under L’Oreal Group) has demonstrated that improper functioning of the mitochondria leads to deterioration of skin tissue. So what is Mitochondria? Mitochondria are the source of 90% of cellular energy production and are intra-cellular organelles essential to proper cell functioning.

Decrease in mitochondrial functioning >> Increase in oxidative stress >> Skin tissue deterioration

Due to this loss of cellular vitality, the skin shows visible signs of fatigue. And three ways to fight against the signs of fatigue are :

  • Boosting skin cell vitality by stimulating mitochondrial activity
  • Helping the skin protect itself from daily aggressions
  • Stimulating the skin’s capacity to recover and to eliminate waste

Although I don’t intend to bore you too much with the technology behind the product, just bare with me a little while more as I need to explain on how the key ingredients may help to fight the signs of fatigue. ;-)

.

Active Ingredients

Biotherm believes that the best active ingredient to fight fatigue or tired skin is broccoli. Broccoli? Yes broccoli, so what can it help on fatigue skin? Well, broccoli is selected for its antioxidant functions and its capacity to induce defense systems, this plant contains a very active compound called sulforaphane.

Biotherm chose young, sulforaphane-rich broccoli sprouts to stimulate the cells’ self-defense mechanisms and puts them in a state of alert for improved response in case of aggression.

Skin Ergetic Serum is claimed that 99% of the ingredients in the serum are of natural origin. It is FREE of paraben, mineral oil and artificial colors.

Skin Ergetic Serum contains other natural ingredients such as soy extract and botanical cells from apples to help stimulate cellular metabolism. It also contains fruit acids natural AHA ingredients like lemon and sugar cane to facilitate surface exfoliation and cellular renewal for a smoother, more luminous skin.

Although this serum is tested on sensitive skin, I personally would refrain from using any product that contains lemon. It may cause irritation on my sensitive skin.

.

A Fresh Skincare Formula that is activated at the last minute

Alike to Vitamin C, sulforaphane-rich broccoli extract is unstable when added to a skincare formula. To solve the problem, Biotherm laboratories decided to isolate this ingredient in a capsule so that it could be activated at the last minute, immediately before the first application.

The mechanic of this packaging is very similar to Sisley Vitamin C Serum.

Review – The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Lip Care Stick

In fact, I never have any intention to buy The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Lip Care Stick, but just because I was short of approx. $10 to fill up the total purchase in order to get the discount and this lip balm fit the bill. Haha, go ahead and call me a typical kiasu Singaporean.

But luckily so far, it never disappoints me and I’m glad I have tried this lip balm for my own use. It is definitely considered a no-frills product.

Product claim

A handy mini stick that offers extra-intensive melt-on moisture for the lips, thanks to its innovative concentrate format. Melts and glides over skin as you apply, leaving it feeling soft, smooth and supple.

Ingredients

Well the product name says it all - ”Cocoa Butter” Lip Care Stick. Cocoa butter, its key ingredient, never fails to hydrate my lip. This lip balm also contains a thoughtful blend of nut oils, wax and olive oil.

Review

First I will have to say I really like the texture very much. Its smooth texture blend perfectly well onto my lip. Non-oily or sticky is also a plus point.

It helps to moisture my lip for a long period. The cocoa butter aroma is refreshing too (well I guess either you hate it or love it haha!). Cocoa Butter Lip Care Stick is considered an excellent handy lip balm I have tried so far. Absolutely a great find!

Rating

Will I buy it again? …… Definitely!
