Check How Clean Is My Face With Only Makeup Cleanser & Washing Gel

.

How do you clean your face everynight? Do you have a cleanser and a washing gel and, more importantly, do you use both every day? Do you really think that this 2-step cleansing process is enough to cleanse away all the dirt, pollution and makeup from the day? You may probably say YES but for me I say NO NO!

.

Let me do a test!

After cleansing my face with the makeup cleanser and my favorite Simple Refreshing Facial Wash Gel, I double cleanse my face with a cotton wipe soak with toner and rub my face with it.

Here’s the proof! See cotton wipe 1: can you still see the makeup, residue and dirt on the wipe? So you see…. Even if you feel your skin is looking visibly clean, that doesn’t mean it is thoroughly cleanse.

Why do we need a toner?

Although I know many of you may not realize the important of a toner, but the truth is it does a great job to my skin. My skin just love it. For me, toner provides the third step of cleansing: it removes the dirt that the cleanser and washing gel missed. I’m now using the BioElements Calmitude Hydrating Solution Lotion and it is fragrance- and alcohol-free and it doesn’t cause any skin irritation, which is GOOD! Choosing the right toner is very important. Avoid toner with alcohol!

Wait, I’m not done yet!

After cleansing and toning, I’m still not finished with cleaning my face. The most important part is still to come.

Don’t worry, the makeup and dirt are almost completely gone and I’m not going to wear down my skin with toner again. In fact now my next step is to remove the dead skin cells.

I believe some of you will prefer to use a cleanser that has some AHA (alpha-hydroxy acids) or BHA (beta-hydroxy acids) contents in it. A good cleanser with AHA/BHA needs to have a correct pH level and if it does, it is claimed to help open pores, exfoliate, dissolve oily plugs, and take off some of the old, dry skin cells from the surface. And most importantly, without stripping the skin and leaving it feeling tight and dry. As most of those cleansers contain miniscule amount of that active ingredients, don’t expect the cleanser to do fantastic exfoliating job on your skin.

So for me, I prefer to exfoliate my skin using my favorite Paula’s Choice 8% AHA Gel. See cotton wipe 2: I can still see very minimal dirt and makeup on the wipe.

All these process may take me a couple of minutes (approx 10 minutes) everyday but I feel that it is worth the time. It has definitely helped me to maintain a good and healthy looking skin. :-) .
