Hada Labo Launch Preview - Japan’s Bestselling Hydration Series
..
Last week, I have attended the Hada Labo Launch Preview Media Intimate Session (organised by Vibes Communications) to introduce the Japan’s Bestselling Hydration Series at Takumi Tokyo @Marina at Keppel Bay.
..

..
I feel especially fortunate to be invited to this private event which for the first time to be able to attend a preview together with the people from the media industry.
..

It was indeed an interesting event and I truly enjoyed it. What also excite me is that I get to meet and catch up with my fellow blogger friends at the event. There are two time slot for us to choose from, 12.30-2.30pm and 3.30-5.30pm and I have taken the second slot.
..

Takumi Tokyo @Marina at Keppel Bay (surrounded with ‘water’) is chosen as the perfect place as it coincides with Hada Labo’s bestselling Hydration Series.
..

Hada Labo, a brand under Rohto-Mentholatum, will be officially launching the #1 Japan bestselling Super Hyaluronic Acid (SHA) Moisturising Lotion which sells 1 bottle every 4 seconds in Singapore in June 2010. Hada Labo, which has a Perfect x Simple philosophy, will also launch the full ranges in moisturising, whitening and exfoliating.
..

Hada Labo has generously given each bloggers a FULL SET OF HYDRATION SERIES for review and testing. (I’m soooo happy!)
..

Gabriel Chu (Senior Manager of Rohto-Mentholatum Singapore) and Niwa Takeshi (Technical Manager for Business Development & Planning Division of Rohto Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd., Osaka, Japan) who is seen with an interpreter, respectively presented the Hada Labo’s profiles, Perfect x Simple philosophy, product technology, products and the benefits.
..

Six of the Hada Labo girls demonstrated the steps on how to pat your skin with the SHA Moisturising Lotion. With the audiences doing the steps at the same time.
..

Each of the attendants is given a hydration test on the palm with their star product, Hada Labo SHA Moisturising. After a small drop was given, I gently massaged and pat my palm for about 10 seconds and followed with the test. The result is MAGNIFICENT! It’s almost 3X more hydration after application. It is unbelievable!
..

Introduced in Japan in 2004, the Hada Labo SHA Moisturising Lotion quickly became a clear favorite and top-selling cult-product amongst beauty lovers, selling 1 bottle every 4 seconds. Today, it is also popular in countries like Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China and Malaysia, as many customers embrace it as their Holy Grail skincare product, optimized for Asian skin. Other Hada Labo sales winners are Arbutin Lotion (#1 Japan Whitening Lotion), and Arbutin Milk (#1 Japan Whitening Milk).
..

The star product, Hada Labo SHA Moisturising Lotion, replenishes and locks in moisture for complete hydration. Super Hyaluronic Acid, an advanced skin hydrating ingredient, retains twice the moisture of Hyaluronic Acid, which is a common ingredient in other skincare products (1 gram of Hyaluronic Acid can hold up to 6 litres of water).
..
..
Used as part of a beauty regiment after cleansing, application is simple. Drip two to three drops on the palm, gently pat onto skin until the viscous lotion is thoroughly absorbed. As the Super Hyaluronic Acid ingredient mimics the skin’s natural moisturising ability to enhance water retention, it preserves the skin’s optimum moisture balance and leaves the surface lastingly hydrated and incomparably softer and suppler.
..
..
The Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturising Lotion retails at S$22.90 exclusively at Watsons from June 2010.
..

..
Inspired by traditional Japanese beauty wisdom, Hada Labo adopts the philosophy of “no more no less” in developing its products. In fulfilling the commitment of ‘PERFECT X SIMPLE’, Hada Labo took special care to remove unnecessary additives such as alcohol, colorant, fragrance and mineral oil that will burden the skin, retaining only the finest, purest and most effective essential ingredients, such as Super Hyaluronic Acid, that are beneficial to the skin to ensure maximum efficacy.
..
..
The Hada Labo products are researched and developed in Rohto’s Pharmaceutical Research Village in Kyoto. Using technology developed through the manufacturing of medicinal drugs, Hada Labo products are produced in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, under strict Goods Manufacturing Practice (GMP), including raw material selection, processing and quality control. This ensures superior product quality, reliability and effectiveness.

Have you tried Alovivi 100% hyaluronic acid extract? (from Beauty Language) is it the same? but the alovivi product is so ex!! (at $60 for 30ml)
How long does the hada Labo toner last? (months of usage).
does your face secret oil after that?

No I never try Alovivi HA extract before. For me, I find Hada Labo lotion is real good. After each use, my skin gets instant hydration. I actually love it!
I have slightly dry skin, my skin doesn’t feel oily after hours later.
You may want to try the samples before you buy it :

Hi Moon,
That’s strange! Made in China?? I wonder if it’s genuine?
What I have with me are all made in Japan by Rohto Pharmaceutical Co. Japan.
Not another SK-II…… It is believed that SKII products that are distributed to Taiwan, China and Hong Kong are made in China.

Hi there. I am a big fan of Hada Labo products and every time when I go to Japan, I try to buy as much as possible. The company seem to release new line of products every so often and I love going to Japanese drug stores to see all the new products.

My first impression about this product is
will it make my face oily? Fortunately, when
i use the lotion, i can hardly believe it, my face is so soft!

Hi Szu Min,
I totally agree with you, my skin is so soft after using it too. It has became my ‘must-have’ night skincare regimen product.

Hi Shirleen,
I don’t really understand this hydrating product. Is it used as a moisturizer or use on top of a moisturizer? This looks amazing to hydrate the skin, but will it be too lacking as compared to an anti-aging moisturizer?
Thanks!
Shirleen
September 29th, 2010 at 7:43 pm
Hi Yvonne,
It is in fact a lotion, not a moisturizer. Use this product after cleanser. It softens the skin so that it can help a better penetration of nutrients from the next product. You will still need to use a moisturizer to seal up the skin as the final regimen.

Hi Shirleen,
Thanks for the clarification. I’m so confused with so many products in the market. Can I ask you another qns? Under your recommendation, I’m using the Paula’s Choice leave on exfoliant, and if I want to use this lotion, I assume it’s after the exfoliant?
Shirleen
September 30th, 2010 at 1:40 pm
Hi Yvonne,
Yes, there are so many products everywhere and so many new launches too. It’s quite confusing.
Correct, use the Paula Choice’s Exfoliant and follow by Hada Labo Lotion.

Hi Shirleen,
I really love Hada labo, I’ve been using this product since last July (I moved to Japan in January this year). At first I was just curious, because whenever I went to a drug store, the refill for Hadalabo was always half sold out than other products. In July, my skin was really dry, and just couldn’t catch up with Japan’s hot humid weather, I got acnes, really bad! a little desperate, noticing beautiful japanese women in shinjuku buying this product,so I decided to buy one too, and never regret that decision eversince. It really helps my skin. It really moisturizes, and got rid the acnes for me ^_^

Hi Mona,
Thanks for sharing your experience with us. Yes I have seen the advertisement on refill on YouTube. It’s not available in Singapore yet.
I love the lotion very much too, my ‘must-have’ product for my night regime. I’ve been using it ever since it launched in July.

Hi Shirleen,
I just google about Hada Labo product review, and found your website.
I have an enquiry, my skin have acnes and sometimes the skin is very oily. I used to have a clear skin last year, but not sure what went wrong, now end-up with congested skin. Do you think the cleanser and the lotion are suitable for oily skin and is there any of its product could eliminate blemish?
Thanks
Shirleen
April 18th, 2011 at 8:38 pm
Hi Fizah,
It sounds like your skin maybe dehydrated and covered with a layer of dead skin cells. When skin is dehydrated, the oil sebum will push up to the surface of the skin. Yes the cleanser and lotion are suitable for your skin type.
Hada Labo carries another range specially for blemishes - AHA & BHA Exfoliating Care. Not too sure if it is good.

Hi Shirleen,
My skin is very oily and acne prone + easily to get scars. Plan to use SK-II Facial Treatment Essence, but don’t plan to use the other range of SK-II products yet as I’m afraid they didn’t suits me. Can you suggest me the other range of cleanser, toner and moisturizer? Interested with Hada Labo
Shirleen
April 29th, 2011 at 11:21 pm
Hi Malina,
Hada Labo cleanser, lotion and emulsion are pretty good. You probably wanna start with the starter kit before buying the full size products. Hope the products work on you.
Fyi, I’m presently using the Dr. Cilabo Super Cleansing EX (makeup remover) and Cleansing Foam EX. Not too bad though. My skin super clean after using them.
Btw, use the SKII FTE after the Hada Labo lotion and before emulsion.

Hello, juz want to share.. for those concerning about HL China and Japan, both r actually original.( Found it in their webste)All the ingredients r brought frm Japan to China so that the price will b cheapper in some countries. Like in S’pore, they r fully imported frm Japan while in M’sia in it’ll b from China.Only The new range HL Retinol-anti aging(red), r fully imported from Japan.
Shirleen
May 11th, 2011 at 10:13 am
Hi Jesz,
Just to clarify, when the ingredients are brought from Japan to China, do you mean those HL products sold in China are manufacture in China?
Jesz
May 11th, 2011 at 1:12 pm
Hi, Shirleen, I’m not too sure about it coz i nvr bought 1 in China. But in M’sia, there’s been a big question mark on ths issue. So, i did a little research myself n found that, the ingredients are brought to China and undergo the same process as it is in Japan. Since Rohto is a big company-i’m a bit convince tht this wont b a big prob.We can buy it with peace in mind as long as we bought it at the right place.

HI Burberry,
The 4 ranges are :
Hydrating range (white packaging)
- Makeup Remover, Face Wash, Lotion, Essence, Cream (new), Milk & Mask
Whitening range (blue packaging)
- Lotion, Essence, Milk & Mask
Anti-aging range (red packaging)(not too sure if it’s available in Malaysia yet)
- Lotion, Essence, Milk & Mask

Hi WeeSan,
The moisturizing Lotion will help to improve your dry skin but it wouldn’t reduce the scars though. It may probably make the scars appear less visible.

Hi Shirleen,
I have quite oily skin, large pores and my face looks dull so I am in desperate need to repair it. I have read about your reviews on this HL Hydration series as well as the Kiehl Ultra Facial Oil-Free range of products. I am looking for natural products. Could you kindly advise me which are those suitable for my condition?
Thanks you.
Shirleen
July 20th, 2011 at 10:07 pm
Hi Karen,
I guess your large pores and dull skin maybe due to the accumulation of dead skin cells on your skin surface. You may want to remove the dead skin by using an exfoliant. For something mild, you may want to check out the Clarins White Plus Renewing Gentle Exfoliator or Gentle Renewing Brightening Peel.
I will personally prefer Hada Labo Hydration series then Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free range because HL products are formulated with better and non-irritant ingredients. The HL products may help to improve your oily skin.

Not too sure if the Hada Labo exfoliating range will help to treat your problems. You may want to consult a dermatologist for help.

Hi Shirleen
If I’m using SK2 clear lotion, follow by FTE & signature cream, at which step should I apply this SHA MOISTURISING LOTION? or can I replace signature cream with SHA lotion?
I have enlarged pores and oily skin at T-zone, yet the cheeks are generally rather dehydrated, as fine lines have started to appear and skin does feel tight after a wash ( SIMPLE DEEP CLEANSING WASH)
Thanks!
Shirleen
September 19th, 2011 at 1:05 am
Hi Michelle,
For me, I will use the SKII clear lotion with a cotton pad to help remove the residue on the skin and follow with SHA moisturizing lotion using padding motion with SHA lotion on my palms. And lastly with FTE and signature cream.
Since you have oily skin on T-zone area, you only need to apply very little of the cream on the area. I hope you are not overwashing your face. Try not to wash more than 2 times per day.

Hi Shirleen I bought the hada labo white range the cleanser the lotion /toner and the essence..but seems a my face just look clog the next morning but I can tell my skin is hydrated and smooth…I just want to ask what is your regimen on using hada labo..since hada labo don’t have sunscreen on their products what else do you use for your regular basis since you have so very nice skin glowing and poreless please reply soon. thank you.
Shirleen
November 16th, 2011 at 6:38 pm
Hi Marge,
The correct regimen for hada labo is : Wash > Lotion > Essence (Serum) > Milk
For sunscreen, you can check out Clarins UV Plus HP Day Screen SPF 40 or Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA+++.
I have been reviewing a number of new products and have been changing products frequently recently. As of now, I would say that AHA products work great on my skin. Check out AHA products from Paula’s Choice.

hi Shirleen,
Saw that you are using Dr Ci:Lo cleanser and may I know have you tried their star product like Aqua Collagen Gel etc as I am interested to buy one? (didnt spot any review on this brand)
And is Paula’s AHA pdts suitable for sensitive skin and where can i buy them in Spore?
Tks v much.
Shirleen
November 18th, 2011 at 11:57 am
Hi Shirley,
Yes I’ve tried a couple of their products and I’ve tried the Aqua Collagen Gel. I actually love most of their products. Aqua Collagen Gel has a lightweight gel texture and if you like something light and refreshing, this product may be ideal for you. It can be used for day and night. I personally prefer something richer and creamy for the night regimen.
I have sensitive skin too and I’ve been using AHA products for a while. My skin has somewhat adapted to AHA products but if you are using the high-concentration Paula’s Choice AHA products for the first time, I will advise you to start using it twice a week before using it every day. You probably can feel tingling sensation when you first use.
Paula’s Choice products can only be purchased via online. Here’s the link : http://paulaschoice.com.sg/

November 19th, 2011 at 1:27 pm
hi Shirleen,
TQ for your prompt reply!
Oh yes I saw your reviews and the link on the Paula products after wrting you this mail.
Something richer at night do you mean night creams? I also wish to buy richer products at night as I am in my late 30 but so fas has been trying diff brands and yet to settle on a long term brand.
For Dr Cilo This pdt is 5-in-1 acting like a toner + moisturiser + serum + sunscreen + make-up base so I am wondering can I still use toner and serum etc as I am afraid that this item alone might be “insufficient”…a bit “kiasu”..haha.
